We are looking for a Software Engineer to join a team building our Data Platform and centralized Data Lake. This team develops scalable distributed systems that process massive datasets from diverse sources. We’re looking for someone with a high standard of technical excellence who is ready to collaborate in creating solutions to complex data problems.

What you'll do: 

  • Collaborate with and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions in full-stack development tools and technologies
  • Leverage tools for building distributed systems such as Kafka, Spark, Parquet, Aurora, Cassandra, Redis, SQS, SNS, S3, and more
  • Participate in software design, documentation, development, engineering approach, delivery and support of applications developed in the team
  • Use software engineering best practices to ensure a high standard of quality for you and your team's deliverables
  • Leverage modern tools and techniques to develop clean, efficient, and reusable code
  • Demonstrate empathy, respect, professionalism, and fairness in everything you do


What you’ll bring:

  • At least 2 years of professional experience in software engineering using one or more of: Java, Python, and/or Scala
  • BS, Computer Science or Computer Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Deep interest in performing in a software engineering role focusing on multiple areas of the stack, from data ingestion to visualization, from pure abstractions to messy business logic
  • You have experience engineering software that leverages cloud computing platforms (preferably AWS) and container orchestration (preferably Kubernetes)
  • Basic understanding of the tradeoffs for various types of databases such as relational, key/value, columnar, etc. and their use cases such as data warehousing, data lakes, caching, etc.
  • Basic understanding of distributed system design 
  • Strong overall communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively
  • Growth-mindset: Willingness to learn new technologies and processes.  Proven ability to learn and adapt to new, complex development environments
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and multitask in a fluid, fast-paced environment. 
  • This job requires you to be fully COVID-19 vaccinated prior to your start date, where legally permissible
  • Proof of vaccination status will be required.
