For this role, prior CNS experience is required.


As an active member of the senior management team, the CSD leads to influence and advance the agency’s mission and business—nurturing our talent and identifying opportunities (internally and externally).


Responsible for playing critical integration role between all account teams to ensure consistent knowledge of agency services and appropriate application/ implementation of offerings. Senior Professional in all aspects of agency services and deliverables and is relied upon by all account teams to engage in a consultative manner on an as-needed basis.


Client Management and Interaction

  • Responsible for selling & driving results
  • Maintains expert status with clients and drives new ideas and opportunities from the perspective of insights for key strategic meetings


Business Development/Sales

  • Business Development is a key responsibility for the CSD, along with the evolution of the agency’s overall market strategy
  • Consistently plays a leadership role in pitching new business, establishing new client relationships, and in boarding and defining/ developing new relationships


Strategic Communication Skills and Tools

  • Knows the ins & outs of all agency and industry tools


Knowledge/Therapeutic Expertise

  • Well-seasoned healthcare marketing professional with a wide ranging body of knowledge in various therapeutic areas
  • Not expected to be expert in all pharmaceutical categories but able to leverage and apply key learnings from many brands/ categories for the benefit of an individual brand
  • Knows & maintains strong relationships with strategic industry vendors that may be critical to the new or existing business(es) at hand
  • Well-informed/ experienced individual who can apply ideas from other markets or categories and execute accordingly


Financial Responsibility

  • Corroborates all internal financial processes and an advocate for teams being fiscally responsible about project budgets and agency fees
  • Overall management of finances for business, staff, and resources within his/her scope of responsibility
  • Manages contract with Finance, ensures profitability and utilization is met



  • Possesses superior communication skills across the board
  • Confident, professional and presence that eases and wins client confidence
  • Presentation delivery to a few key individuals or to a large client team is a key strength



  • Contributes to the health and cohesion of the Account Group Department
  • Working with Creative Directors to do the same for the agency at large



  • Manages multiple account teams
  • Leads from the front and is seen to be constantly developing innovative techniques and agency offerings for the betterment of all
  • Develops “best practice” documents, processes, and diagrams, that are shared across all teams
  • Ensures that all agency teams maintain high quality work product and that teams consistently follow established processes/ guidelines for executing competitive agency offerings (for example: tactical brainstorms, POVs)
  • Serves as a mentor to account group and takes initiative to develop training curriculums



  • Is seen a calm force in challenging times
  • Seemingly everywhere at once and maintains a strong presence across teams despite the fact that they are not always in the office but in key meetings (for example, positioning workshops, planning sessions, strategic brainstorms) plays a seminal role, but will be largely absent from day-to-day management
