Complex Networks is seeking a Social Media Director to manage our social media team and oversee all aspects of the brand’s online social strategy. This is a full-time position in the New York office.

The ideal candidate should be an expert in best practices and community building on key social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, etc.), and well-versed in emerging platforms and tech industry trends. Experience with leading a team, writing, and promoting editorial content are important. Passion about and knowledge of the topics that Complex covers—music, pop culture, style, sports, and sneakers—are a must, as well as a great sense of humor and the ability to create reactionary content and memes in real time.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily maintenance and growth of Complex’s social media accounts
  • Hone a consistent editorial voice across all platforms
    • Manage a growing social media team of 7+ employees
  • Work directly with the EIC, SVP, and Executive Editor on robust coverage on tent-pole events that are both planned and reactionary
    • Work with larger editorial team on campaigns, contests, and engagement strategies
    • Collaborate with art and video departments to create engaging social assets
    • Oversee analytics reporting and provide interpretation for the larger team
    • Consult with branded content and marketing teams on brand campaign executions
  • Educate broader company on social trends and editorial strategy
    • Develop Complex’s relationships with media and tech industry contacts
  • Strategically staff/monitor all of Complex’s vertical social media channels

Requirements

  • 2+ years experience managing social strategy for a brand or publisher
  • A nuanced understanding of entertainment, hip-hop, sports, and menswear trends
  • An active presence on more than 2 social platforms
  • Strong writing ability and great interpersonal communication skills
  • Knowledge of Photoshop, Google Analytics, and social media publishing tools
