CodePath is a national non-profit that is reprogramming higher education to create the most diverse generation of software engineers, CTOs, and founders. We deliver industry-vetted courses and career support centered on the needs of Black, Latino/a, Indigenous, and low-income students. Our students train with senior engineers, intern at top companies, and rise together to become the tech leaders of tomorrow.
Founded in 2017, CodePath has taught over 20,000 students and delivered courses across over 85 universities. We are supported by some of the largest and most well-respected organizations, including Andreessen Horowitz, Blue Meridian Partners, Cognizant Foundation, Comcast, Google, Meta, Salesforce, Walmart, and Workday, among others.
We are currently targeted to serve 10,000+ students a year nationwide as of 2023, and are planning to scale up to ~100,000 students a year by 2030.
About the Role
Location: Florida International University
Duration: 10 weeks of instruction in the Spring
Reports To: The E3 Pathway Implementation Manager
Salary Range: $75-125 per hour
Role type: Contractor, W2 Seasonal Employee
This role is for a position on the Adjunct bench. Hiring does not guarantee immediate work.
Adjunct Instructors are responsible for providing in-class instruction and are the “face” of CodePath’s classes taught to university students. Adjunct Instructors plan for engaging lessons using CodePath curriculum, work with co-instructors and teaching assistants to coordinate in class activities and support, and ensure the course is meeting program KPIs while integrating student feedback throughout the program.

Class Syllabi:
To be successful in this role, you will be a technical leader in the field of Web Development, with at least 1 year of professional experience employed in a Web Development role.
You are a dynamic, inspiring technical expert with a desire to create inclusive educational spaces and a passion for empowering students, particularly those who identify with underrepresented groups in tech. You have some experience as an educator and/or trainer who is interested in contributing to best-in-class academic programs for underestimated student populations.
Key Activities:

Lead teach the lecture portion of class sessions of approximately 25-30 college students.

Plan for lessons to be highly engaging and industry relevant, with CodePath provided curriculum.

Work with the Implementation Manager to oversee the course.

Participate in syncs with instructors and teaching assistants leading up to the start of the course, as an onboarding and to make sure instructors feel well prepared to run effective sessions during the program.

Participate in check-ins with Professor of Record during the course

Use course feedback to implement course improvements and propose curriculum changes that ensure KPIs are met.

Qualifications

Computer science (or related field) degree, or comparable experience working in/learning Web Development

1+ year of professional experience employed in a Web Development role

In-depth knowledge of full-stack web development including React

Understanding of Node, Express, and PostgreSQL preferred

A passion for training the next generation of developers and some experience teaching in an educational, volunteer or work setting, for online learning environments
