JOB SUMMARY 

We are seeking a Director of Email & Website who will oversee the email marketing strategy and manage the website for Code.org. This position requires a candidate with a strong background in digital marketing and web analytics, who can think strategically. The ideal candidate will enhance user engagement, optimize email campaigns, and effectively manage website content to support our mission and drive growth.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

In this role, you will:

Email/Site Lifecycle Strategy:

  • Develop customer journey maps to identify key touchpoints and engagement opportunities across email and website interactions.
  • Use segmentation to customize content according to user behavior, preferences, and lifecycle stages, guaranteeing personalized communication.
  • Implement automated drip campaigns to nurture leads through each lifecycle stage, from awareness to retention.
  • Set up behavioral triggers for timely, relevant emails based on website actions (e.g. re-engagement campaigns).
  • Design onboarding and welcome email series to introduce new users to website features, promoting early engagement and retention.
  • Develop re-engagement campaigns for inactive users with personalized content to revive interest and drive site visits.
  • Create and manage a content strategy supporting each lifecycle stage, guiding users toward desired actions.
  • Implement retention and loyalty programs through email and website channels to encourage long-term engagement.
  • Incorporate customer feedback into lifecycle strategies to continuously improve email and site experiences.

Email Marketing Management:

  • Develop and implement strategies to increase engagement, drive traffic, and support organizational goals.
  • Develop and implement focused email campaigns, including newsletters and automated sequences.
  • Optimize email performance through A/B testing, segmentation, and personalization.
  • Leverage audience management tools to integrate customer data and enhance email effectiveness.
  • Analyze customer journey data to optimize email touchpoints and overall engagement.

Website Content Management:

  • Enhance website functionality and user experience through collaboration with creative and technical teams.
  • Optimize the site journey for a seamless experience from entry to conversion.
  • Improve site layout and content placement based on visitor interaction analysis.
  • Apply proven SEO strategies to boost organic traffic and enhance search rankings.
  • Manage website content to ensure it is current, accurate, and aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Partner with product and engineering teams to translate strategic plans into scalable website features.

Content Creation:

  • Produce high-quality, engaging email and website content in line with Code.org’s mission and branding.
  • Maintain a content calendar for email campaigns and website updates.
  • Create SEO-optimized content to enhance search visibility and attract target audiences.
  • Coordinate with external content creators and agencies to expand production capabilities.
  • Develop creative strategies to drive audience engagement and support marketing objectives.

Email & Site Excellence:

  • Use advanced personalization technologies such as AI and machine learning to deliver personalized email and site content.
  • Implement technical SEO enhancements, such as site speed optimization and mobile-friendliness, to improve overall site performance.
  • Ensure compliance with email marketing regulations and industry standards (e.g., GDPR, CAN-SPAM).
  • Monitor email deliverability and sender reputation to maintain high inbox placement rates.
  • Use advanced technical tools to enhance and optimize site and email performance.
  • Advocate for the adoption of the latest marketing technologies to enhance performance.

Analytics and Reporting:

  • Monitor, analyze, and report on email and website performance metrics to improve strategies and showcase the effectiveness of our efforts.
  • Use data-driven insights to inform decision-making and enhance digital marketing efforts.
  • Conduct regular audits of email and website performance to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Perform competitive analysis to benchmark performance and identify industry trends.
  • Create a centralized dashboard to access real-time performance metrics.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

We seek candidates who have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in email marketing and/or website management.
  • Strong understanding of email marketing platforms (e.g., Pardot) and web analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics).
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.

We prefer candidates who also have:

  • Creative problem-solving abilities and a passion for storytelling.

In addition, candidates must:

  • Be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Pass a pre-employment background check
  • Minimal travel may be required for team events or conferences

Step 1: Informational Interview - learn more about the role and share your experience (30 minutes)
Step 2: Homework (~2 hours)
Step 3: Interviews with several members of the Code.org team (~ 3 hours)
Step 4: Final Interview (1 hour)
Step 5: Reference Checks 

All interviews are currently being conducted virtually via Zoom

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS PACKAGE

The expected salary range for this position is $99,000-$110,000. The actual offer will be at the company’s sole discretion and determined by relevant business considerations, including the final candidate’s qualifications, years of experience, and skillset.
