Position Overview

Assistant Merchant, Men’s Merchandising will assist the category Merchant on the creation of product assortments and category investment strategy to maximize sales and profitability. Club Monaco is a merchant led organization and this role will be critical in supporting the successful execution of merchandising strategies. This person will be the product expert in their owned categories and will be reporting into the category Men’s Merchant under the purview of the Director of Men’s Merchandising.  

Key Responsibilities

  • Partners with lead category merchants to develop a customer focused, omni-channel business strategy to deliver the company’s financial goals.
  • Manages and presents a product brief to design based on real-time sales data, competitive landscape, and global financial goals including pricing, IMU and profitable sell through.
  • Owns the relationship and communication between Merchandising and the cross-functional teams (Design, Production, Creative, Planning, Digital, Wholesale & International) to drive a collaborative working environment. 
  • Provides inputs and insights into all hindsight processes and provides recommendations for both near and long-term actions.
  • Works with design and production to quickly adapt on-order for emerging sales trends or declining product categories.
  • Develops their categories with the Category Lead within the context of a global line to ensure product offering meets brand merchandising strategies and channel / regional needs while identifying areas for growth opportunity. 
  • Partners with the lead category merchant to set the global price structure aligning to a good, better, best strategy. 
  • Brings creative solutions for costing challenges and operates with a keen understanding of the competitive landscape.
  • Collaborates with Tech Design to provide a Merchandising perspective in seasonal and weekly fits.
  • Manages all product tools to ensure 100% accuracy, including Flex PLM, Power BI, GA, D365 software and internal Excel-based maintenance. 
  • Manages all line sheets and data entry for men’s product categories, keeping them up to date as the bible for all cross functional teams
  • Creates global Omni Brief and Product Knowledge to communicate key investments and product initiatives to Marketing, ECOM, Creative, and Store team. 
  • Collaborates with ECOM team to ensure proper merchandising on-site for all product and ensuring accurate product descriptions
  • Partners with planning and allocation on buys during assortment planning process. 
  • Manages inventory in real time through markdowns, promotions, and agile inventory opportunities to hit successful sales, margin, and inventory goals. 
  • Drives the business through in-season management, assessment, and reaction to current trends. Focus on driving digital growth through ecommerce channels.
  • Manages relationship and communication with third party vendors 

Skills/Behaviors

  • Bachelor’s degree with retail/intern experience in Merchandising or Buying a plus. Vertical experience preferred.
  • Self-starter with intense attention to detail & deadlines
  • Eagerness to learn and understand the structure of a significant menswear business.
  • Strong understanding of trends within the marketplace and the Club Monaco customers.
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office: Excel, Outlook, Word.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and cross-functional leadership skills required.
  • Ability to develop and maintain respectful, strong relationships across the organization.

For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in New York, Club Monaco includes a reasonable estimate of the salary or hourly rate range for this role. This accounts for the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions; including but not limited to business or organizational needs, skill sets, experience and training, licensure, and certifications.

A reasonable estimate of the current base hourly range is $24 to $26.
