About the Department
Security at Cloudflare is a focused team committed to helping secure both Cloudflare and our customers. The Detection and Response team is responsible for detecting threats and responding to security incidents across the organization.
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Detection Engineer to join our Detection and Response team. The role is a Senior position, coming in with years of real world experience in identifying threats and translating them into actionable detections, developing playbooks, and continually striving to improve our detections and visibility. The successful candidate will help define and execute strategy for threat detection and incident response. You will perform threat modeling of complex systems and infrastructure, build detections based on indicators observed during incident response and SOAR (security orchestration, automation and response) workflows to detect and respond to security threats.
As a part of a larger Security organization, you will be working with across-functional teams, such as Product, Engineering, IT and Security to influence and develop security products and practices.
Desired skills and background:
- 3+ years of experience in leading Tier 2 or Tier 3 Incident Response using data analytics and system forensics in production and corporate environments.
- Well versed in the latest adversary techniques, attack lifecycle, and incident response procedure.
- Expertise in a broad range of security technology such as EDR, Network Traffic Analysis, Email Security Gateway, SASE, public cloud security, etc.
- Proficient in security monitoring, log analysis and detection building from large datasets to automate Incident detection and response processes.
- Experience “threat hunting,” i.e. using threat intel to proactively and iteratively investigate potential risks and finding suspicious behavior in the network.
- Knowledge of attacker methodologies and techniques.
- Proficient in programming in Python and/or Golang.
- Experience building detections on Linux systems using auditd, osquery etc.
- Experience in malware reverse engineering on Windows and macOS.
