The Work 

We are seeking a motivated Sales Development Representative to join our team, responsible for identifying and engaging potential customers with a focus on our Energy and Utilities business line. In this role, you will assist in lead generation activities and handle various tasks to streamline the sales process and support the sales objectives. 

Responsibilities 

  • Lead Generation: Identify and research potential customers through various channels, including cold calling, email campaigns, social media, and networking events. 
  • Prospect Qualification: Conduct initial conversations with leads to assess their needs, qualify their interest, and determine their suitability as potential customers. 
  • Sales Outreach: Initiate contact with prospects to schedule appointments, product demonstrations, and sales meetings for the sales team. 
  • Pipeline Management: Maintain accurate records of all sales activities and customer interactions in our CRM system, ensuring that leads are properly tracked and followed up on. 
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the sales and marketing teams to develop targeted outreach strategies, refine messaging, and optimize lead generation efforts. 
  • Continuous Learning: Conduct market research to stay informed of industry trends, competitive landscape, and product developments to effectively communicate our value proposition, address customer inquiries and become a SME in the Energy & Utilities landscape. 

To Be Successful in this Role 

  • Sales Experience: Prior experience in sales, customer service, or lead generation is a plus but not required. 
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage prospects, articulate product benefits, and build rapport.
  • Self-Motivation: Proactive, results-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team Player: Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative approach to working cross-functionally and supporting team goals.
  • Tech-Savvy: Comfortable using Salesforce, email marketing platforms, and other sales tools. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is desirable.
  • Passion for Technology: Interest in weather technology, environmental science, or related fields is beneficial. 

Qualifications 

  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent. 
  • Strong administrative skills to assist in sales leads.  
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced private equity backed environment. 
  • Strong customer service orientation. 
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new sales strategies and techniques. 
  • Previous experience in Saas product sales with the ability to apply market trends and customer insights to a go-to market strategy. 
  • Knowledge of weather/climate related software/data products, a plus. 
  • Ability to work flexible hours and travel (15-25%) 

Physical Demands & Work Environment:    

  • This is a full-time, exempt position.    
  • Fully Remote from the United States but will require some travel (15-25%) 
  • This job requires frequent use of a computer to complete tasks, attend meetings, and communicate via Microsoft Teams.

The salary range for this position is $50-70k Base Pay with commission on each qualified sale.
