What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Participating in the creation of new business solutions for our entrepreneurs
  • Leading highly visible technical features, helping others on the team with complex problems while working closely with the product team and designers
  • Interpolating as needed between the tasks of product definition, design, QA and deployment. We work in an agile environment with biweekly sprint plans
  • Interacting with a great variety of web services
  • Working on partnership integrations
  • Designing sign-up flows
  • Developing credit models
  • Building internal tools for sales and operations
  • Working on systems for sending and receiving payments
  • Building accounting systems
  • Utilizing data-visualization and business intelligence products, both internal and customer-facing
  • Managing systems for onboarding customers
  • Spinning up new microservices

  • Passionate about designing and developing software to answer business needs
  • Comfortable with a modern JavaScript framework
  • A firm believer that software is a team sport and you are disciplined in the practice
  • Able to communicate through pairing, documentation, testing, and demoing
  • Comfortable with the ambiguity of an early-stage company. This includes being able to transform product sketches into working technology, as well as working in an environment with a very short technical backlog
  • Able to handle the varied responsibilities of being a member of a small team. This means interpolating between a variety of roles, and interfacing with all sides of the business (including sales and customer support)
  • Highly skilled at interpersonal communication and comfortable interacting with other team members and our co-founders
  • Interested in Clearbanc's core domain - finance, technology, eCommerce and entrepreneur market
  • Comfortable with identifying new technologies and approaches to problems

Technical Requirements: 

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or similar field
  • Previous Co-op work experience
  • Some professional software experience
  • Understanding of technologies of the web (HTTP, JSON APIs, REST, HTML)
  • SQL database programming and performance
  • *NIX environments, and Operating system details (including processes, threads and file systems)
  • Event-driven system design and architecture
  • MySQL, PostgreSQL or similar relational databases
  • Data structures and algorithms
  • Familiar with enterprise systems and asynchronous architectures
  • Experience with dynamic languages like JavaScript, Ruby or Python
  • Writing maintainable systems
