Position Summary:
Classical Charter Schools Bus Attendants protect and supervise our scholars to and from their homes. Most importantly, Bus Attendants manage behavior to ensure all scholars are safe. It is the Bus Attendant’s responsibility to establish behavior on the bus that matches what is expected in classrooms. Bus Attendants work approximately 4 hours per day, in two 2-hour shifts. Hours vary by bus route, but Bus Attendants must be available approximately between the hours of 6:00am-8:00am and 4:00pm-6:00pm. Daily expectations include:
Supervising scholars while on the bus, strictly enforcing behavioral expectations
Seating scholars based on their behavior and bus stop order
Transitioning scholars in organized lines between the school building and the bus
Calling the school after the last scholar is dropped off, so that staff are able to leave
Calling the school if a parent is not at the bus stop to coordinate a pickup time
Qualifications:
Over 21 years old
High School Diploma
Any kind of experience working with children
Successful candidates will:
Certification through the Office of Pupil Transportation (OPT) preferred
If not already certified at the time of hire, Bus Attendants may apply for certification, which involves several examinations, training courses and fingerprinting
