Position Summary:

The Director of Data's primary duties are the following:

Data Management:

  • Manage and audit Classical’s student information systems, assessment platforms, trackers, and databases to ensure smooth and accurate data collection
  • Oversee staff execution of data entry processes and provide professional development to ensure information is accurate and reporting is accessible to all stakeholders
  • Create and manage innovative data solutions using PowerApps and Power Automate to support with onboarding/offboarding, staff evaluations, curriculum calendar, etc.
  • Supervise and support creation of scripts (using SQL, Python, or R) that clean, transform, and load data to automate analyses and quickly answer research questions
  • Optimize database systems and serve as point of contact with external consultants to improve collection and reporting of critical data

Reporting & Analysis:

  • Lead the design, development, and management of academic, attendance, and behavior dashboards to ensure that staff have the information they need to make effective decisions
  • Oversee the report card process to ensure that teachers and families are provided with specific, skill-based data to help their scholar succeed
  • Lead research projects to provide staff with timely information on important topics such as summer slide, COVID-slide, and identifying at-risk scholars
  • Provide additional data reporting and analysis as needed for audits, grants, and strategic initiatives



  • Work with the Executive Director to create and continuously improve a comprehensive strategy for collecting, managing, and reporting data
  • Lead the data team through weekly trainings, professional development, process creation and oversight
  • Develop and run role-specific training documents and video for all staff members on utilizing data systems, tools, and reports
  • Collaborate with school leaders to develop and implement timely reports and analyses that help Classical achieve its mission and drive continuous improvement


  • Bachelor's Degree required; relevant Master's degree preferred
  • At least three years of relevant professional work experience
  • Experience working in a K-12 education setting
  • Experience managing data systems and processes and analyzing data with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to quickly learn new systems and troubleshoot common issues
  • Expert in Excel and proficient in SQL
  • Experience with PowerApps and Flow to create and manage data paths across departments
  • Experience with statistical software, data visualization, and/or programming languages (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, R, Python) preferred
