Position Summary:
The Controller supports our schools through providing the financial discipline and transparency needed for the organization to run smoothly and effect real change in the classroom. Controller must demonstrate high levels of professionalism and urgency, and excellent organizational skills. Reporting directly to the Director of Business the Controller will perform the following responsibilities:
Supervise and perform essential accounting duties in the areas of Cash, Investments, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, Accounts Payable, Other Long-Term Liabilities, Government Sourced Revenue, Private Funding, Payroll, Rent and other material categories.
Work closely with the schools’ financial consultants for support and review.
Direct supervision of one or more Business Associates.
Preparation of quarterly and annual reports for city, state, authorizer, and Board of Trustees.
Manage annual financial audit, tax filings and 990 filings with independent auditor
Manage 401K and Workman’s Compensation Audits.
Processing applications and other forms to acquire government funding.
Work with Executive Director on fundraising initiatives and required reporting.
Supervise payroll processing totaling approximately $16.8 million annually.
Qualifications:
Undergraduate degree in accounting or another related field
Experience in public accounting, financial statement and federal audits
