ClassDojo's goal is to give every child on Earth an education they love.

We started by building a powerful network for communication. ClassDojo’s flagship app is the #1 communication app connecting K-8 teachers, children, and families globally. Teachers use it to share what’s happening throughout the day through photos, videos, and messages that make parents feel like they’re there. It’s actively used in over 95% of US schools, reaching over 50 million children in 180 countries, with a team of just around 200 people [1]. We are now beginning to use this network to give kids the best learning experiences in the world, far beyond those a standard school can provide.

We hire for talent density. Our team comprises the most talented, entrepreneurial, and innovative teammates from around the world, with experience in education and large scale consumer internet companies, including Instagram, Netflix, Dropbox, Stripe, Uber, Y Combinator, and more. We’re building a company where the most talented people want to work. We believe you’ll do the best work of your life here—and you’ll pioneer the future of education, too.

What you’ll do:

ClassDojo is looking for a high-energy, entrepreneurial, and experienced Strategic Finance team member to tackle some of the Company’s most pressing financial questions. You’ll be the first hire on the team and will have exposure to all aspects of our business. You’ll be responsible for owning the Company’s financial plans and models. There will be a strong emphasis on refining and scaling our topline forecasting strategy, systems, and processes, and you’ll need to partner effectively with Revenue, Product, and GTM leadership to do so.

We have a unique business model, with products spanning SaaS, marketplace, and virtual gaming. You’ll need to demonstrate strong intellectual curiousity with spikes on analytical, structured, and strategic thinking to assess ROI of investments in new products, markets, and acquisition channels, as well as our overall capital allocation strategy.

Externally, you’ll be asked to partner with the CEO, CFO, and other leaders to execute on board presentations, fundraising activities, M&A diligence, and potential IPO readiness workstreams. Over time, you’ll be expected to effectively articulate the Company’s mission, product strategy, and financial upside to external partners.

While this role will initially be structured as an individual contributor, there is a high likelihood that you’ll be asked to help expand the Strategic Finance team with multiple hires in the next 1-2 years. For the right candidate, there will be meaningful leadership opportunities over time. This role will at least initially report to ClassDojo’s CFO.

Must have:

  • Experiences
    • 6+ years of relevant work experience, with 2+ years at a top-tier investment bank and 3+ years in-house on a Strategic Finance or Business Operations team at fast growing pre-IPO or early public technology companies.
    • Experience with complex businesses (multiple products with different pricing structures, including SaaS, usage-based, and marketplace models).
    • Experience directly owning a company's revenue forecast, including financial models, planning / budgeting, and partnership with GTM and Product leaders.
    • Demonstrated all-around athlete / generalist capabilities through direct value-add across multiple strategic initiatives requiring financial insights (e.g. fundraising, M&A, launching of new products / markets / GTM channels).
  • Attributes
    • Highly collaborative with impeccable judgment - Demonstrated ability to partner cross-functionally, drive alignment, and resolve conflicts
    • Analytical and structured thinker - Highly advanced financial modeling skills, able to seamlessly derive insights from messy data and communicate complex financial topics in a structured and digestible manner.
    • Strategic - Deep curiosity for the company’s addressable markets, products, and business plans, and how these elements could impact financial strategy; strong product intuition and commercial mindset.
    • Scrappy with a focus on quality and efficiency - Demonstrated ability to go from 0-to-1, tendency to prioritize rigorously, preference for quality over volume, and strong desire for automation (e.g. with emerging AI tools).

Nice to have:

  • 8+ years of total experience
  • 2+ years experience in a top-tier venture capital, private equity, or hedge fund
  • Hired and directly managed 2+ Strategic Finance team members
  • Owned annual and quarterly financial planning processes
  • Familiar with next-gen planning software (e.g. Causal) as well as AI automation tools
  • Technical degree (CS, engineering, economics, math, etc.)

OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
