Pay Range: $51,308 - $64,135 annual compensation

A Volunteer Coordinator job is available with the City of Fort Worth Police Department Code Blue Unit. This position will contribute to the City’s strategic goals, mission, and vision by providing professional support to both general employees and sworn police officers at all levels.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Business Administration, Public Administration, Marketing, Humanities, Psychology or Public Relations or related fields.
- Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in volunteer service programs or related fields.
- Must pass Drug Screen and background check and have a valid Texas driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of functions, processes, and principles of volunteer services.
- Skill in working with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint (A successful candidate will have intermediate level proficiency in Excel).
- Ability to administer, monitor, and supervise volunteer programs.
The Volunteer Coordinator job responsibilities include:
- Assesses organizational needs for volunteer services and plans for recruitment in assigned departments including program coordination at community facilities.
- Develops and implements volunteer recruitment plan; maintains continuous recruitment for volunteers through various sources including career fairs, flyers, public meetings, and mass media.
- Recruits, interviews, screens, and refers volunteers to appropriate sites within assigned department; develops and conduct in-service training programs for specific assignments and programs; prepares and maintains procedural and training manuals.
- Prepares administrative and statistical reports on the nature, extent, and value of volunteer services. This now includes responsibility for monitoring input from divisional coordinators into Get Connected, similar to payroll monitoring software, but for volunteered hours.
- Maintains records and informational files regarding volunteers assigned to a specific department; organizes and implements a yearly recognition event for departmental volunteers.
- Assists in budget preparation for assigned department; forecasts needed funds to operate volunteer recruitment and training.
- Interacts with community groups, civic organizations, sworn personnel, and the general public
- Participates in the selection, training, motivating, and evaluating of volunteer personnel; monitors volunteer work plan.
- Organize recruitment events, including food prep, set up and clean up, and arranging/maintaining facilities.
- Organize and participate in volunteer activities that include crime scene grid searches (may see body parts or other evidence), assisting with role playing in officer training (tac village sim round, simulator, patrol procedure, and defensive tactics training), and Citizens on Patrol shifts.

Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing and balancing.
Final candidates selected for hire in the Police Department will be subject to a fingerprint/criminal history background check and polygraph examination. Applicants must not have used marijuana during the previous two (2) years, nor illegally used any controlled substances within the last ten (10) years.
Applicants for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following will result in being disqualified for this position: Felony Convictions, Felony Deferred Adjudication, Class A Misdemeanor Conviction, Class B Misdemeanor Convictions in the last 10 years, Class A Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication, Class B Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication in the last 10 years, an Open Arrest for Any Criminal Offense (Felony or Misdemeanor), and ALL Family Violence Convictions regardless of class.
Physical Demands
Medium work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.
