A Sign Combination Inspector job is available with the City of Fort Worth Development Services Inspections Division. The inspections division performs a variety of construction inspection duties including investigating sign complaints, sign inspections, verifying zoning compliance and verifying compliance with the City of Fort Worth Sign Ordinance.
Minimum Qualifications:
- HS Diploma/GED supplemented by specialized training in building construction or a related field.
- Two (2) years of experience in building inspection and/or construction related field.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate International Code Conference (ICC) certification as an International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) commercial or a residential inspector within six months of employment.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid State of Texas Plumbing Inspector License is required within one year of employment.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, one (1) additional ICC certification and/or State of Texas license in one trade within a year and a half of employment.
- State of Texas Sign Inspectors License.
- Must pass Drug Screen and Physical.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two years increasingly responsible experience in conducting sign inspections.
- ICC Residential or Commercial Electrical Inspector certification
- ICC Residential or Commercial Energy Inspector certification
- Extensive sign inspection experience
The Sign Combination Inspector job responsibilities include:
- Performing sign inspections to verify compliance with the adopted codes on the more complex projects within the City of Fort Worth
- Attend construction and pre-construction meetings with developers and permit holders.
- Hands-on inspection training in the field with inspectors covering aspects of electrical sign installations and energy compliance.
- Assisting with less complicated inspections when assistance is needed by other inspectors.
Working Conditions
Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking and repetitive motions.
Physical Demand
Light Work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly having to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for the Sedentary Work category and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated Light Work.
