Department Intro: The City of Fort Worth Park & Recreation Department is recruiting for seasonal positions to work with our 2025 Summer Day Camp, offering Camp Fort Worth and the Mobile Recreation Programs. We are looking for enthusiastic Recreation Instructors who enjoy working in a fast-paced environment while encouraging kids to stay safe, physically active, and intellectually engaged while having fun. Camp Fort Worth and Mobile Recreation are Summer Day Camp programs located at 20 community centers and four schools throughout the City of Fort Worth.
- Attendance is required at orientation, which is June 2 –6
- The Mobile Recreation Summer Day Camp Program operates from June 9 through July 25 and is offered between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
- Candidate must be comfortable and willing to get into the water for any aquatic-related activities and field trips.
- The positions will work up to a maximum of 40 hours per week (Seasonal Position with no benefits).
This Position qualifies for the following incentives which are separate from the base pay:
- Completion of Assignment Pay. You can earn up to a $300 incentive pay, which is based on the amount of days worked while on assignment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Six (6) months of experience in recreational, educational, cultural and/or fitness programs.
The Title job responsibilities include:
- Supervise children during various summer day camp activities, including recreation, cultural, and educational programs, arts and crafts, youth sports, structured indoor and outdoor events, and aquatic activities.
- Develop and implement weekly lesson plans that meet educational, cultural, and recreational needs through a variety of activities.
- Facilitate classes in educational programs, arts and crafts, sports and various recreational activities by using displays and hands-on activities to enhance learning.
- Enforce safety standards and departmental policies while ensuring proper disciplinary procedures are followed.
- Monitor and verify attendance, schedules, and meal reports to ensure accurate record-keeping.
- Support Camp Leaders by assisting with the planning, coordination, and execution of daily camp activities, ensuring smooth operations and addressing any needs.
- Mentor and support less experienced staff, offering advice and encouragement to help them grow in their roles.
- Step-in to manage activities and resolve issues when Camp Leaders are unavailable or need assistance.
- Adhere to assigned work schedules as outlined in the Department and City attendance policies and procedures; ensures all behaviors comply with the City’s Personnel Rules and Regulations.
