A Human Relations Coordinator position is available with the City of Fort Worth Diversity and Inclusion Department.
The mission of the Diversity and Inclusion Department is to support City Council priorities of economic development, community investment, community safety, infrastructure, responsible growth and fiscal responsibility by providing support for and ensuring compliance of federal, state, and local laws, regulations and ordinances for strategic resource allocation and decision making. We educate stakeholders on best practices in municipal operationalization and enforcement of equal access in city contracting, fair housing, fair employment, public accommodations, credit access business, source of income, Title VI and ADA. We support quality of life for all Fort Worth residents.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in public administration, civil engineering, architecture and design, business administration, sociology, or a related field.
- Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in ADA and Accessibility compliance, investigation, mediation, and resolution.
- Valid Texas driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)Title II, Title III and their applications to City government.
- Knowledge of Title VI, transportation regulations and ADA Design Standards.
- Experience in Registered Accessibility Specialization.
The Human Relations Coordinator position responsibilities include:
- Conducts ADA require self-evaluations of built-environment, establish transportation, and programmatic barriers in services. Develops transition plans if changes are required in ensuring accessibility, and oversee the transition.
- Handle requests for auxiliary aides and services, provide information about accessible programs and services, and serve as an ADA resource citywide.
- Serves as the primary point of contact for Title VI and ADA related issues, including the monitoring of the ADA email inbox. Updates and maintains the online database of complaints received by the public regarding City facilities.
- Responds to requests for information or services from residents, neighborhood organizations, outside agencies, Mayor and Council and other departments.
- Coordinates disability compliance implementation and grievance oversight, as described in ADA Title II mandate.
- Facilitates the coordination of the ADA Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan.
- Monitors and evaluates the quality, responsiveness, efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures; works for continuous improvement of citizen responsiveness; and recommends modifications to programs, policies and procedures, as appropriate.
- Provides staff assistance to Department Director, Mayors Committee for Persons with Disabilities and Human Relations Commission; researches and maintains current knowledge of communications, public engagement, civil rights including fair housing, employment, public accommodations news and trends; and prepares and presents data analysis reports and other correspondence.
- Performs other related duties as required.
