A Human Services Specialist job is available with the City of Fort Worth Neighborhood Services Department/ Community Services.
We are currently seeking a professional who is a critical thinker, has great communication skills, time-management skills, organizational skills, and excellent problem-solving skills to join our Community Services team. The Human Services Specialist primary purpose is to perform a variety of administrative duties, determining applicant eligibility and performing intake duties and/or implementation of human service programs.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college in Psychology, Social Work, Sociology or related field
- And (2) years of experience in interviewing/eligibility assessment for a social services or related program.
- Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Preference may be given to higher levels of education, experience and certifications as related to the vacancy.
- Possession of a SSW, LMSW, LPC, and LCDC is not required, but is highly preferred.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. Heavy public and telephone contact experience.
The Human Services Specialist job responsibilities include:
- Social service resources and case management experience;
- Ability to become familiar with various program guidelines; ensure client is enrolled in appropriate program and make appropriate referrals;
- Experience communicating decisions, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures to clients or customers verbally and in writing;
- Experience prioritizing and processing a high volume of information and data on a daily basis;
- Routinely demonstrates compassion and an ability to empathize with clients/customers who may be upset or angry;
- Demonstrates effective conflict resolution skills with co-workers, managers, and clients/customers;
- Demonstrates a desire to work with the public in a helping and supportive capacity;
