Environmental Technician jobs are available with The City of Fort Worth Water Department Customer Care. This position is with the Industrial Wastewater Monitoring team in the Pretreatment section. This position would be responsible for assisting in collecting wastewater samples and equipment preparation for the scheduled and random sampling of industries and customer cities.
The Environmental Technician job responsibilities include:
- Assist in collecting wastewater samples at industrial facilities and/or various field sites
- Operates in a team environment, both with an assigned team member and or in a fill in basis for other teams during an absence of an environmental specialist
- Processes sample related lab data and report filing
- Assists with wastewater investigations
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma/GED
- Three (3) years of directly experience
- Valid Driver’s License
Preferred Qualifications:
- One year of experience in field of water, wastewater or pretreatment
- Knowledge of water and waste water treatment and collection / distribution systems
- Possession of an associated college degree

Incumbents may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, intense noises, gases, vibrations, unsanitary conditions, workspace restrictions, and the ability to maintain a professional demeanor even when dealing with upset customers/citizens.
Physical Demands:
Heavy Work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.
