Pay Range: $25.15/hr. - $29.65/hr.

A Crew Leader position is available with the City of Fort Worth Transportation and Public Works Stormwater Operation Division. The City of Fort Worth has approximately 230 miles of engineered channels to be maintained. This infrastructure conveys storm water from neighborhoods and developed areas to the nearest creek or river. Maintaining these channels at their design capacity is essential in reducing the flood risk to citizens and businesses. Functions within channel management include maintenance, restoration and bar ditches
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED
- Two years responsible experience in field construction, maintenance, repair or operational activities, preferably in management role
- Class A CDL – with tanker endorsement
- Must pass Drug Screen, Physical
Preferred Qualifications:
- Additional construction repair and maintenance experience
- Supervisory experience
- Experience writing employee performance appraisals
- Work zone safety
- Basic computer skills, i.e. Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of the Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices
The job responsibilities include:
- Responsible for monitoring the quality, responsiveness, efficiency and effectiveness regarding general field operations to include construction, maintenance and repair activities which may include water utilities, parks and community services, transportation/public works, city services and other related services
- Identifies resources needed. Reviews needs with appropriate management staff and allocates resources accordingly
- Performs technical and complex tasks of the work unit including inspecting field operations equipment and recommending needed repairs
- Participates in personnel training and works with subordinate personnel to correct deficiencies. Implement discipline procedures
- Exposure to inclement weather conditions while inspecting various field operations sites; exposure to chemicals, toxic materials, and water as related to assigned tasks; hazards associated with operating a motor vehicle
- Adheres to assigned work schedule, 4 - ten hour shifts; Overtime or compensatory time may be required to assist with emergencies or maintenance needs and work in diverse weather conditions
- Ensure compliance of policies and procedures
- Prioritize scheduled and emergency work including after hours on-call
- Provide direction and job assignments to work crews and assist in scheduling construction, maintenance, and repair services in addition to overseeing work progression and making adjustments as needed
- Assist in responding and resolving public and/or inquiries and complaints. Confers with internal and external customers regarding problems and provide assistance as necessary

Incumbents may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, intense noises, gases, vibrations, chemicals, oils and workspace restrictions.
Physical Demand
Heavy Work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.
