Pay Range: $24.81 - $31.01/hr.

A Housing Rehabilitation Technician II is available with the City of Fort Worth Neighborhood Services Department for the Home Improvement and Construction Division. This position will participate in implementation of the City’s Weatherization Assistance Program, the position will conduct energy audits on both single-family houses and multifamily apartments, monitor contractor performance for weatherization assistance program, educate clients on energy savings and provide responsible assistance to program supervisory and management staff.
The Housing Rehabilitation Technician II responsibilities include:
- Inspecting dwelling units, energy auditing and recognizing health and safety deficiencies and violations of building codes in utility systems, structural systems, interiors and exteriors of housing units
- Preparation of clear and concise work specifications and calculation of estimated rehabilitation costs utilizing software programs; preparation and maintenance of inspection reports and files
- Monitoring contractor work in progress, verifying that work is being done to City of Fort Worth standards, performing final inspections, and identifying necessary change order items while ensuring no unapproved changes are made
- Adheres to assigned work schedule as outlined in the Department and City attendance policies and procedures; ensures all behaviors comply with the City’s Personnel Rules and Regulations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associates Degree from an accredited college or university with coursework in business administration, construction technology, or a related field
- Two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience in housing programs, code enforcement, or other closely related field
- Possession of a valid Texas driver’s license is required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Excellent customer service skills and the ability to work with clients and contractors
- Strong knowledge of building science/systems and Energy Auditing
- Knowledge and experience with HVAC, plumbing, roofing, electrical and mechanical systems for single-family homes
- Knowledge and experience with building codes, home inspections, cost estimation, and energy auditing skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint computer skills required
Conditions of Employment
Candidates who do not meet the Education requirement, may be considered if they have more relevant work experience than the position requires.
