A Street Operations Supervisor job is available with The City of Fort Worth Transportation and Public Works Department, Streets and Stormwater Field Operations Division. This position is assigned to the Street Operations, Southeast Maintenance Sector and will be located at the Southside Service Center at 4100 Columbus Trail.   This Street Operations Supervisor should have a heavy concentration of asphalt street maintenance knowledge and experience, to include but not limited to, base (subgrade) and asphalt pavement repair, street cuts, asphalt level ups, both by hand and by machine, as well as the materials and processes necessary to perform these duties. This position requires the candidate to have a working knowledge of the different streets/road’s asphalt deficiencies and conditions, and how to go about their repair and preservation.   

This position requires working four ten hour shifts Tuesday through Friday and additional time as needed to assist with emergencies or maintenance needs which may include working in diverse weather conditions.

The Street Operations Supervisor job responsibilities include:

  • Prioritize scheduled and emergency work
  • Provide direct in-field supervision of crews working on all phases of maintenance operations.
  • Schedule and monitor maintenance projects and improving upon the efficiency and effectiveness of all areas under his/her direction and control. 
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and maintain a safe worksite for employees and citizens.
  • Ensure compliance of policies and procedures.
  • Read engineering plans and blueprints.
  • Communicate with internal and external customers.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED supplemented by specialized training related to assigned operations and services
  • Four years of related experience
  • Valid Texas Class C Driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Additional construction repair and maintenance experience including heavy equipment, i.e., dump trucks, skid steers, excavators, backhoes, motor graders, wheel loaders, compaction equipment and tools or equipment related to Street Maintenance and their repairs
  • Supervisory experience including experience writing employee performance appraisals
  • Project management experience
  • Work zone safety knowledge, traffic control and/or training and Knowledge of snow/ice/hazardous weather conditions pertaining to Streets Operations
  • Knowledge of the Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices
  • Moderate computer skills, i.e., Microsoft Office, PeopleSoft, other software platforms

Conditions of Employment

Candidates who do not meet the Education requirement, may be considered if they have more relevant work experience than the position requires.
