Overview of Role

CircleCI is looking for a strong frontend developer who is excited about pairing with teammates to learn more about functional programming and backend work.

You will join our Plans and Payments team and collaborate with Product, Design, Finance, and Sales while working on a best-in-class, usage-based revenue system with to-the-second billing.

To thrive in this role, you work well with distributed teams and enjoy pair programming. You mentor teammates in a respectful, flexible, and empathetic manner. You like working with Product and Design to find the best solution to the problem at hand. You balance technical tradeoffs with delivering customer value quickly and incrementally.

Here are a few things you’ll get to do in this role:

  • Lead and define the frontend experience in this domain.
  • Work on a cross-functional, feature-driven engineering team distributed across the US.
  • Mentor and collaborate with teammates through planning, pair programming, testing, and delivery of the features you build.
  • Build scalable, reusable components in a functional React frontend and a microservice-powered backend.
  • Use JavaScript, React, GraphQL, and Clojure on a daily basis.
  • Gain exposure to 3rd-party payment systems.

About you

We’re looking for someone who is curious and interested in learning, brings strong communication and teamwork skills, and helps others grow by sharing their expertise and encouraging best practices. If this sounds like you, here’s the additional experience we’re looking for:

  • Articulate UI and UX opinions.
  • A deep understanding of the value of testing.
  • Experience with functional JavaScript and interest in functional programming paradigms in general.
  • Experience using agile/lean development practices with a focus on incremental delivery and business value.
