The Assistant Food & Beverage Manager role is responsible for managing the food and beverage experience at our Palm Beach Gardens campus including our retail café and coffee bar environments and special ministry-driven events. The Assistant Food & Beverage Manager must have a passion for great food, specialty coffee beverages, ability to serve our staff and volunteers and connect well with our church family.This is a salary exempt position working a flexible schedule including nights and weekends. This role reports directly to the Food and Beverage Manager and partners with campus leaders to oversee the Food & Beverage staff and volunteers at each location.

We are looking for you to be:

  • A minimum of five years’ experience in hospitality services required and a college degree is preferred
  • Strong understanding of restaurant operations and experience with café equipment
  • Advanced working knowledge of point-of-sale systems
  • Hold a current ServeSafe Food Handling Manager’s Certificate
  • Have a great customer service mindset
  • Able to lead a team to deliver positive customer service behaviors consistently each day,
  • Have advanced computer skills including word processing, spreadsheet and presentation and able to run sales reports in our point-of-sale system
  • Able to work collaboratively with Dream Team Coordinator and volunteers to best place volunteers based on their skillset and passions
  • Detail-oriented and entrepreneurial minded

You will be looking after:

  • Co-manage the weekday and weekend retail operations of the Palm Beach Gardens Café and Coffee Bar including open and closing duties
  • Able to manage and oversee a staff team of 5 or more if needed
  • Manage the execution of all ministry orders and assist when needed
  • Ensure that food and beverage services during weekend services and events are delivered on time, every time, with a high degree of excellence in both quality and presentation
  • Focus on maintaining and building positive customer service behaviors through best practices and basic standards
  • Managing a portion of the overall café budget and managing food and paper costs
  • Manage and maintain inventory levels for food, paper and other supplies and order from local distributor weekly; Accept deliveries as needed
  • Monitoring trends, identifying solutions to grow sales and providing basic sales reports
  • Process cash deposits and balance the cafe change fund
  • Schedule staff and volunteer hours as needed. Supervise and assign duties as needed
  • Actively develop staff and volunteer team members both spiritually and professionally
  • Ensuring that all equipment is maintained, clean, and in proficient working condition
  • Monitor compliance with health and safety regulations regarding food preparation and service areas
  • Implement an established list of standards for performance and service including before, during and after the shift
  • Review work procedures and operational issues to determine ways to improve service, performance and/or safety
  • Ensure health and safety regulations are followed
  • Maintain clean and sanitary conditions in Cafe and proper storage of products and food
  • Manage equipment maintenance and repairs in coordination with Facilities and/or Café maintenance schedules
