The Dishwasher and Kitchen Attendant role is responsible for providing timely and efficient cleaning and storing of all smallwares and other kitchen utensils while maintaining a clean and safe working environment for themselves and our team of staff and volunteers. This is a hourly non-exempt position working a flexible schedule including both nights and weekends for 20 hours a week. This role reports directly to the Assistant Food and Beverage Manager.

 

We are looking for you to be:

  • A high school diploma or minimum of 2 years experience in the restaurant industry
  • Knowledge of basic sanitary guidelines including chemical solvents and hand washing methods
  • SafeStaff Food Handler Certificate (or able to be certified within 60 days of hire date)
  • Ability to stand during an entire shift in a warm and damp environment able to lift 30 pounds
  • Ability to handle and operate the following smallwares or equipment safely: knives, Robot Coupe,
    meat slicer, automatic/commercial dish machine and a three-compartment sink
  • Ability to maneuver safely through a commercial kitchen including walk-ins and high traffic areas
  • Ability to reach overhead, carry/transport sheet pans and other large smallwares, bend below the
    waist and communicate intentions effectively with co-workers and other staff and volunteers
  • Ability to multi-task and assist in other areas not limited to trash removal and cleanup
  • Able to work extended hours during global events

You will be looking after:

  • Maintain proper washing and sanitizing of smallwares and kitchen items using our commercial
    dishwasher and/or 3-compartment sink; includes ongoing basic maintance of actual dishwasher
    according to manufacturer specifications
  • Maintain organization of dish drying area and kitchen smallwares storage areas both during and
    end of shift.
  • Maintain organization and weekly inventory of our chemical and maintanance closet
  • Remove trash from both kitchen and café receptacles at various times per shift
  • Ensuring loading dock is well maintained and proper chemicals are being used in the dish room
  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen as needed by the Assistant Food and Beverage Manager
  • Assist cleaning and organization efforts within the kitchen including walk-in coolers and all storage
    areas (as needed)
