The Lead Barista role is responsible for managing overall operations for our full-service coffee bar while also supporting weekday operations within our onsite café. The Lead Barista must have a passion for providing excellent food and beverage products and able to build strong connections within our team and church family.This is a hourly non-exempt position working a flexible schedule including both nights and weekends and all events. This role reports directly to the Assistant Food and Beverage Manager and partners with campus leaders to support campus events at our Palm Beach Gardens location.

We are looking for you to be:

  • Have a basic understanding of a restaurant operation and commercial equipment
  • Have a strong customer service mindset able to adapt to changes
  • Have working knowledge of point-of-sale system and demonstrate intermediate computer skills
  • Have a current ServSafe Manager Certificate (or able to be certified within 60 days)
  • Able to work closely with ministry leads and create simple event environments
  • Able to multi-task, work under pressure in fast-paced environment and bring creative solutions relating to customer flow, menu ideas and overall efficiency
  • Able to work extended hours for major events and conferences

You will be looking after:

  • Maintain weekday and weekend operations including open and closing duties
  • Process cash deposits and balance the cafe change fund
  • Prepare retail environment for weekend services including preparation of pastries and baking
    of cookies and other items, stocking all coffee and paper supplies, preparation of cold brew
    coffee and preparation of frozen smoothie packs
  • Monitoring and preparing all ministry orders including coffee, limited food and pastries
  • Maintaining clean display cases and ensure café goods and products are arranged properly
  • Ensure all food and beverage items are presented with a high degree of excellence in both quality and presentation
  • Ensure all food and beverage services are prepared and/or delivered on time with a high degree of excellence in both quality and presentation
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with staff, volunteers and church family
  • Recruit, train, resource and lead a team(s) of volunteers assigning specific tasks as needed
  • Schedule volunteer shifts and fill gaps when needed
  • Develop volunteers both spiritually and professionally
  • Develop team captains within your team equipping them to help manage daily tasks and operations
  • Maintain inventory by ordering supplies as needed
  • Managing a portion of the overall café budget and managing food and paper costs
