What You Will Do

We are actively seeking an experienced and motivated individual to join our team as the East Coast regional On-site Quality Assurance Manager. In this role, you will assume a crucial position in upholding the quality and safety standards of Chomps products at our contract manufacturing facility. Your primary responsibilities will include overseeing daily QA operations while fostering a positive relationship with our manufacturing partner, addressing product quality concerns to drive continuous improvement efforts, managing recall and product traceability procedures, leading quality and food safety investigations, and approving all RCA and CAPA reports. Your leadership will be essential in maintaining the high standards defined by Chomps quality assurance team. We are looking for a candidate with exceptional attention to detail, superb organizational abilities, a deep understanding of the meat manufacturing industry, and has the emotional intelligence to thrive in a collaborative fast paced setting. Responsibilities

On-location QA Oversight at Manufacturing Facilities: 

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with third-party QA partners. Promote teamwork and collaboration in quality improvement efforts. 
  • Lead detailed root cause analyses and corrective actions for quality and food safety issues, ensuring that all reports provided from our contract manufacturing partner are coherent, actionable, and thorough. 
  • Complete bi-weekly preoperational inspections of raw processing and RTE.  
  • Oversee the installation of Chomps new packaging lines ensuring successful start-up. Develop and implement parameters for QC packaging checks. 
  • Conduct traceability audits covering the entire product lifecycle, from raw protein procurement through to customer delivery, and update processes as needed. 
  • Work closely with Chomps internal QA team to refine recall plans post-drills, identifying and addressing any gaps in traceability systems. 
  • Work in tandem with our contract manufacturing teams to achieve production goals, ensure compliance with Chomps quality and food safety standards, USDA-FSIS regulations, and internal company policies. 
  • Complete regular direct observation and verification audits, performing real-time monitoring of key operations—from protein receiving and tempering through raw processing, cooking, aW/pH testing, and RTE packaging—to ensure compliance with quality protocols. 

Product Quality Continuous Improvement 

  • Spearhead product quality investigations with contract manufacturers. Identify possible processing errors and areas of opportunity to improve or correct. 
  • Analyze sensory evaluation dashboards and reporting – share data with all manufacturers to be reviewed in weekly meetings and offer guidance in process/product improvement initiatives. 
  • Work with R&D and operations teams in the creation of process control and product specification sheets. 
  • Be onsite for sample and test runs of new products. Provide real time reports and photos to Chomps operations team. 
  • Collaborate with internal teams on testing and implementation of protein tempering best practices and creation of SOPs.  

Program Improvement, Support, and Team Trainings 

  • Aide with the development of continuous improvement initiatives for sanitation, environmental monitoring, and thermal processing validations programs.  
  • Integrate Chomps' quality and food safety standards into contract negotiations, ensuring compliance. Actively integrating these standards into daily operations and program requirements. 
  • Identify areas of potential risk across all departments and work with contract manufacturing teams to create actionable plans to integrate better systems and programs.  
  • Educate internal teams on Chomps processes and manufacturing best practices to achieve "gold star" product standards. 

 

Who You Are

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality assurance or operations management/supervisor within the meat manufacturing industry. 
  • In-depth understanding of HACCP, USDA-FSIS regulations. 
  • Proficiency in raw processing and ready-to-eat meat and poultry production. 
  • Experience with pre-op inspection, environmental monitoring programs, and GFSI audit requirements. 
  • Strong knowledge of process flow, risk mitigation, and shelf-life management. 
  • Expert with CAPA, RCA, and quality management systems. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Self-motivated and autonomous. 
  • Positive attitude, adaptable to change. 
  • Ability to travel on an as needed basis up to 50% of the time. 
  • Bachelor's degree in food science, microbiology, or related field preferred.

Salary Range Opportunity:

  • The salary range for this role is $110,000 - $120,000 + 20% annual bonus

  • Our salary ranges are based on verified market data and our philosophy of paying competitively for our size and industry
  • Individual pay rate decisions are based on several factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, and balancing internal equity relative to peers at the company
