What You Will Do

Due to rapid growth, Chomps is expanding its tax department with a newly created role to support our scaling efforts, leveraging and upgrading existing processes and relationships. As Senior Manager, Tax you will play a crucial role in driving tax execution and ensuring streamlined processes that deliver high-quality results. This position offers significant cross-functional exposure, allowing you to collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders across various tax areas. 

You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of tax compliance and strategy, ensuring the company remains aligned with current tax laws and regulations. The ideal candidate will have proven technical expertise, a strong process-driven mindset, and the ability to develop and implement tax strategies that align with our growth objectives and minimize risk. 

Responsibilities

  • Support and manage the preparation and filing of federal, state, and local tax returns with external tax partners. 
  • Stay current on evolving tax regulations and ensure the brand is compliant. 
  • Ensure continuous development of tax-related skills and knowledge within the Company. 
  • Monitor changes in tax laws and advise on their potential impact on the business and changes in tax legislation. 
  • Support design and execute future state of sales tax, ensure monthly data is provided to outside provider timely and returns are accurate. 
  • Lead preparing monthly sales and use tax data. 
  • Develop and implement tax strategies that align with the company’s growth goals, including opportunities for tax savings and deferral. 
  • Manage audits, inquiries, or requests from tax authorities, including preparing responses and supporting documentation. 
  • Identify and mitigate tax risks through proactive planning and analysis. 
  • Work closely with finance, legal, and operations teams and advisors to ensure the integration of tax considerations into business decisions. 
  • Collaborate with the finance team on tax forecasting, provisioning, and budget planning. 
  • Partner with external tax advisors and auditors to manage complex tax issues and ensure compliance in various jurisdictions. 
  • Identify and implement opportunities to streamline tax processes, improve efficiency, and reduce manual tasks. 
  • Develop and maintain internal controls for tax reporting and compliance, ensuring accurate and reliable information. 
  • Assess and manage tax risks, including evaluating potential liabilities and exposures. 
  • Develop risk mitigation strategies to safeguard the company from tax penalties and disputes. 
  • Prepare and review tax provisions for financial statements in accordance with GAAP. 
  • Prepare detailed tax reports for senior management and stakeholders, outlining tax liabilities, risks, and planning opportunities. 

Who You Are

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; CPA or equivalent certification preferred. Master’s in Tax preferred. 
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in directly managing tax execution, preferably with some internal corporate tax experience. 
  • Knowledge of various areas of taxation including federal and state income tax and sales tax. 
  • Experience with tax compliance software (Avalara) and financial reporting systems (NetSuite). 
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in work. 
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines. 
  • Demonstrated leadership and process management abilities.

Type: Full-Time, exempt

Salary Range Opportunity:

  • The salary range for this role is $130,000 - $140,000 + 20% annual bonus

Compensation Philosophy & Total Comp:

  • Our salary ranges are based on verified market data and our philosophy of paying competitively for our size and industry
  • Individual pay rate decisions are based on several factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, and balancing internal equity relative to peers at the company
  • In addition to base salary, full-time team members receive medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401K 6% match, and monthly reimbursements for wellness and home office.
