About the role 

As Chime’s Internal Audit & SOX Senior, you will play a key role in implementing a world-class SOX program and contributing to the broader internal audit function. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with process and control owners across the organization to ensure compliance with SOX requirements while also performing risk-based internal audits to support operational and strategic objectives. This role will involve testing, evaluation, and risk assessment activities for SOX compliance and broader internal audit initiatives. 

The base salary offered for this role and level of experience will begin at $103,680.00 and up to $144,000.00. Full-time employees are also eligible for a bonus, competitive equity package, and benefits. The actual base salary offered may be higher, depending on your location, skills, qualifications, and experience. 

In this role, you can expect to (responsibilities) 

  • Coordinate and participate in process walkthroughs with management (process owners) and external auditors to ensure adequate control design and identification of “key” controls and interfaces
  • Evaluate changes in process, people, and technology that may have an impact to internal controls over financial reporting, document SOX impact, and provide controls guidance and training, as required
  • Project manage the SOX program by coordinating the testing of key controls, facilitate support requests, tracking completion, monitoring status, and performing continuous follow up with process owners and our Big Four co-source partner
  • Assess the design and test the operating effectiveness of internal controls in support of the SOX compliance program
  • Execute risk-based internal audits across financial, operational, and compliance areas to evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls and risk management practices
  • Identify SOX control and operational deficiencies, consult with IT and/or business units to evaluate the severity of the deficiency, determine appropriate remediation plans, and track remediation status 
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies, providing actionable recommendations to strengthen controls and mitigate risks.

To thrive in this role, you have (requirements)          

  • +3 years of SOX experience in Big 4 or Public Company preferred. Relevant certifications in auditing are preferred (i.e. CPA, CIA or equivalent)
  • Knowledge of US GAAP, COSO, PCAOB Auditing Standards, Sarbanes-Oxley, risk and controls standards with experience in helping business unit design, implement, document controls as well as perform controls testing. 
  • Excellent organizational, time and self-management skills. With the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects to achieve results
  • Team player with a positive attitude that embraces change and thrives in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience collaborating and working in tandem with the IT audit team, ensuring key systems and functionality are identified and tested
  • Experience in identifying, evaluating, and testing Information Produced by the Entity (IPE) to ensure its accuracy, completeness, and reliability in support of internal controls.
  • Nice to Have: 
    • Familiarity with Auditboard, Workday, Coupa, Shareworks, or/and Netsuite
    • Experience or familiarity with testing, remediation, and follow-up of IT General Controls (ITGC) and IT Automated Controls (ITAC)
