About the role

As a Marketing Financial Analyst at Chime, you will play a crucial role in bridging the gap between marketing and finance. Your primary responsibilities will include partnering with various marketing teams to manage and reconcile their yearly budgets, ensuring proper expense accrual in collaboration with accounting, and working closely with marketing leadership to provide financial scenarios and forecasts. You will be instrumental in creating and maintaining detailed financial reports and dashboards that offer clear insights into budget performance and spending trends.

In this role, you will use your strong analytical and problem-solving skills to monitor marketing spend, conduct ROI analysis, and identify cost-saving opportunities. Your technical proficiency in financial modeling, data analysis, and reporting tools, combined with excellent communication skills, will enable you to present financial information effectively to non-financial stakeholders. By collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will support financial planning and budgeting processes, driving strategic investment decisions that align with our company's goals and objectives.

The base salary offered for this role and level of experience will begin at $82,620 and up to $ 114,800. Full-time employees are also eligible for a bonus, competitive equity package, and benefits. The actual base salary offered may be higher, depending on your location, skills, qualifications, and experience.

In this role, you can expect to:

  • Budget Management: Partner with marketing teams to lead and reconcile monthly budgets, ensuring accurate tracking and allocation of funds.
  • Expense Accrual: Collaborate with accounting to ensure proper expense accruals, maintaining accuracy in financial records and compliance with company policies.
  • Forecasting: Develop models to forecast marketing spend trends, incorporating historical data, current initiatives, and market conditions to predict future financial outcomes.
  • Performance Analysis: Regularly monitor and analyze marketing spend, identifying trends, variances, and opportunities for optimization.
  • Scenario Planning: Work with marketing leadership to create various financial scenarios, assessing potential impacts of different spending strategies on overall performance.
  • Reporting: Prepare and maintain detailed financial reports and dashboards to provide marketing partners with clear insights into budget performance and expenditure trends.
  • Data Reconciliation: Ensure accurate reconciliation of marketing spend data across different systems and platforms, resolving discrepancies as needed.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, finance, and leadership, to support financial planning, budgeting, and reporting needs.

To thrive in this role, you have:

  • Experience: 2+ years of experience in financial analysis, budgeting, or a related field, preferably within a marketing or advertising environment.
  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Finance, Accounting, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in financial modeling, data analysis, and reporting tools such as Excel, Google Sheets, and financial software. Experience with Adaptive, Netsuite, SQL, and Looker is a bonus.
  • Accounting Chops: You know how to separate expense accrual vs. payment and can coach others on how to do the same.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret sophisticated financial data and provide actionable insights.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly and effectively to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and build strong working relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
