About the Role

As Chime’s IT SOX Sr. Manager, you will be responsible for managing and delivering high-quality, complex audits of SOX programs, risk areas, or initiatives, working around complex technology and application environments and across different business processes. You will also be responsible for providing input to the SOX annual risk assessment and audit plan which evaluates the adequacy of the IT control environment across the company. The successful candidate will advise and guide management on how to maintain and build robust IT SOX controls. They will be highly curious and be able to dive deeply into business processes to identify areas of weakness, inefficiency, and be influential with key stakeholders around process improvement. The candidate must be able to understand the full range of IT risks related to processes and help guide business owners in defining best practices and effective value-added risk mitigation plans. This role will help build a solid foundation for Chime’s inaugural Internal Audit department and be a trusted advisor to primary business partners in the Accounting, People Ops, Equity, Tax, and Risk teams.

The base salary offered for this role and level of experience will begin at $146,610 and up to $207,700. Full-time employees are also eligible for a bonus, competitive equity package, and benefits. The actual base salary offered may be higher, depending on your location, skills, qualifications, and experience.

In this role, you can expect to 

  • Manage, oversee, and deliver high-quality, complex audits of IT SOX programs, risk areas, or initiatives, working around complex technology and application environments and across different business processes
  • Develop the IT annual SOX audit plan that is aligned with the company external auditor
  • Perform quality reviews over work papers and reports and drive consistency across regions by executing standardized audit
  • Be responsible for relationship with external service auditor engagement for IT General Controls testing
  • Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with business partners, learning and understanding the business to better provide value-added services, establishing credibility as a management consultant and internal controls resource, and ensuring business partner satisfaction
  • Partner with Accounting, People Ops, Equity, Tax, and Risk teams to advise and provide assurance around a strong and scalable internal controls environment. Assist in documentation where needed.
  • Participate in Chime’s critical systems implementations to ensure best practice control procedures and designs are followed; ensure utilization of automation / automated controls where appropriate.
  • Identify and develop audit techniques including continuous auditing, data analysis and monitoring while leveraging Chime’s core platforms, applications and capabilities.
  • Oversee the business process related SOX program; liaise with internal and co-sourced resources to execute the project plan; collaborate with and advise internal business owners; evaluate and conclude on control assessments according to PCAOB standards; work closely with external auditors to coordinate quarterly and year-end control testing.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging trends, regulations, and best practices in internal controls and provide guidance accordingly

To thrive in this role, you have

  • 8+ years of IT focused SOX experience in Big 4 or PCAOB preferred
  • Bachelors or equivalent in accounting, or other business-related fields. Appropriate certifications in auditing are preferred (i.e. CPA, CIA or equivalent).
  • Strong regulatory knowledge and ability to understand automated processes in a digital platform and the underlying technology.
  • A proven ability to effectively lead a SOX program (IT focused) and drive improvements year over year.
  • Experience with managing external auditor requirements and expectations.
  • Experience leading integrated audits that address a combination of financial/operating and technology objectives.
  • A hands-on leadership style, with a scrappy start-up mentality.
