Job Summary:
Paraprofessional (Special Education Aide) works under the supervision of the classroom teacher and serves as a support person in the classroom. This position provides appropriate services to the students, helping to implement suggested educational activities and in monitoring student behavior.
Essential Functions:
Assist teachers with the logistics of instructions. Including passing out books, supplies, attendance, and making copies
Assist teachers in monitoring student’s work behavior
Monitors children during lunch and recess
Assists with movement of children through hallways and onto and off buses
Assists teachers with reinforcing instruction and small group learning. This includes working with individuals or small groups of students, administering tests, grading tests and homework
Performs other related duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
An associate degree or at least 48 postsecondary education credits; or the successful completion of a state or locally developed assessment in reading, writing, and mathematics
Previous work with inner city youth a plus.

MS Office Suite
The fundamentals of working with various students, parents, other teachers and leadership

Take and follow directions as indicated by the classroom teacher
Effectively manage time and effectively manage students in the classroom
Work well with students of all ages
Represent one’s self and CCCS in a positive and professional manner consistent with a personal commitment to fulfilling the District’s mission statement and core values while displaying service and involvement, creativity and innovation, dignity and respect, personal and professional integrity, and a duty to safeguard sensitive or confidential information from intentional or unintentional disclosure
