Job Summary:
The ISS Support Aide generally functions under the supervision of the Principal, Dean of Students or Teacher and provides support in monitoring student behavior, school work and maintaining order. An ISS Support Aide must abide by all professional behavioral expectations and should act as a positive role model for the students.
Essential Functions:
Monitors students during the arrival process either in the bus area, playground or cafeteria
Assists students in lining up in an orderly fashion as they enter the building
Provides hall monitoring and student escort services to/from the office, nurse, or bathroom facilities before and after lunches
Ensures students are lined up according to the class lists and escorts them to the cafeteria for lunch
Responsible for overseeing and directing students who are assigned to In School Suspension
Monitors students in line for lunch until they have been served
Monitors student behavior during lunch
Escorts students to recess
Monitors students during recess in order to ensure their safety and well being
Escorts students to classroom after recess
Redirects unsatisfactory behavior (makes certain student is aware of the specific violation of the Student Handbook)
Monitors all academic and behavioral assignments
Contacts parents regarding student violations
Informs Principal or Dean of Students of the results of phone call
Escorts bus students to buses or monitors students in the playground until they are picked up
Assists with movement of students onto buses
Performs other related duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
High School Diploma required
Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university preferred
Experience working with children, preferred
PA State Police Criminal Record Check
PA Child Abuse History Clearance (ChildLine)
FBI Fingerprint Check
Demonstrated knowledge of:
Using interpersonal skills with tact, patience and courtesy
Student Code of Conduct and the School’s Disciplinary Code
Policies and regulations necessary to answer work related and general information
Demonstrated Ability to:
Communicate effectively with staff and students
Use common sense in order to problem solve
