Position Overview
CRA’s Energy practice provides consulting services to support clients navigate the energy transition with expertise and advice that is objective, grounded in economics, evidence-based, client-focused, and fully defensible. Our project types are broad-ranging: from specific energy market analysis and market potential assessment for renewable and unconventional energy technologies/solutions to economic assessments of policies and regulations affecting decisions at local through supranational levels and expert reports and testimony for energy-related litigation. We also support corporate and asset management clients’ decision making on strategic and operational decisions; develop and execute commercial strategy development; and support merger, acquisition and divestment planning.
Our Summer Analyst Internship program is meant to mirror the analyst experience to give you a greater understanding of our business and the type of work that is done at Charles River Associates. Throughout the 2-3 month program, Analyst Interns work closely with both senior and junior staff on project teams and apply economic, financial and business principles to solve real-world problems. Typical responsibilities may include:
- Review and summarise analyst reports, client documents, and industry trade press;
- Assist in the production and development of research summaries, expert reports, and the presentation of findings;
- Analyse economic and financial data using spreadsheets and statistical programs;
- Conduct industry, market structure, and competitor-positioning studies;
- Perform a range of quantitative consulting tasks, such as running electric power system models, database management, and forecasting; and
- Ensure the integrity and accuracy of analyses.
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum penultimate year Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD degree candidates graduating Summer 2026 with strong academic performance (at least 1.7 grade average); while a STEM course of study may be helpful, we welcome applications from all courses;
- Prior completion of a research apprenticeship, or research seminar program is highly desired;
- Experience with, or keen interest in, the energy industry;
- Curious and analytical thinkers who bring creative approaches to non-standard problems;
- Effective written and oral communication skills with peers, senior staff and clients;
- Eagerness to learn quickly, apply prior knowledge to current situations, and effectively communicate complex ideas and recommendations;
- Demonstrated high level of initiative and leadership;
- Strong teamwork and collaboration capabilities;
- Excellent time management and task prioritization skills;
- Clear and demonstrated interest in consulting through coursework, work experience, activities, or attendance at CRA recruiting events.

Work Location Flexibility
CRA creates a work environment that enables our colleagues to benefit from being together in the office to best deliver on our promise of career growth, mentorship and inclusivity. At the same time, we recognise that individuals realise a range of benefits when working from home periodically. We currently ask that individuals spend 3 to 4 days a week on average working in the office (which may include traveling to another CRA office or to a client's location), with specific days determined in coordination with your practice or team. At certain times of the year (e.g. holiday periods), additional remote work options are offered to those whose work commitments permit it, although our offices remain open for those who choose or need to be there.
