Across our work in Science, Education, and within our communities, we pair technology with grantmaking, impact investing, and collaboration to help accelerate the pace of progress toward our mission. Our Central Operations & Partners team provides the support needed to push this work forward. 

Central Operations & Partners consists of our Brand & Communications, Community, Facilities, Finance, Infrastructure/IT Operations/Business Systems, Initiative Operations, People, Real Estate/Workplace/Facilities/Security, Research & Learning, and Ventures teams. These teams provide the essential operations, services, and strategies needed to support CZI’s progress toward achieving its mission to build a better future for everyone.

The Opportunity

CZI’s  Employee Philanthropy Programs fuel opportunities for CZIers to give, learn and do that help employees become more engaged and more deeply connected to the mission and communities we serve. A new segment of CZI’s People team,  Employee Philanthropy curates and executes volunteering, learning and giving opportunities to help CZIers stay close to the work. 

The Program Operations Manager, Employee Philanthropy will help build out this new segment of our People Team by developing and improving operational workstreams, initiatives and systems across the team’s program areas. This work includes strategy development, program execution and evaluation, partner engagement, and coordinating cross-functional work with internal teams and external nonprofit partners.

The Program Operations Manager will manage virtual and in-person learning and volunteering events, build and execute processes for sharing Employee Philanthropy opportunities with the broader organization, and track program impact.   The role will also serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external inquiries and build and maintain strong relationships with external partners. 

The Program Operations Manager will report to the Senior Director, Employee Philanthropy as part of the Employee Philanthropy Programs team,  and will work with the broader People Team teams as well as internal and external stakeholders to support the team’s impact  This is a new role for the team and the Program Operations Manager will have the opportunity to help build and shape the team’s work in service of our value of staying close to the work. 

What You'll Do

  • Develop plans for and execute local community give back events in collaboration with the Events team
  • Plan and execute local and national learning trips to give employees hands-on access to partner organization work and impact
  • Manage  internal and external stakeholder engagement, including via a cross-functional working group
  • Manage  program evaluation and reporting through data collection, analysis and visualization to measure impact and progress toward goals and benchmarks
  • Develop and implement new  Employee Philanthropy programs

What You'll Bring

  • 8+ years of progressively complex related professional experience operations in employee engagement, employee volunteerism, corporate social responsibility, corporate philanthropy social impact or related sectors
  • Demonstrated program and project management experience
  • A passion for employee volunteerism  and community engagement
  • Demonstrate experience leveraging collaborative  influencing skills to enable effective cross-functional teamwork
  • Accomplished ability to multi-task across projects, pay attention to detail and manage time efficiently
  • Navigates ambiguity with ease and grace
  • Comfortable with blue sky approach to building program and operational structures from new
  • Have the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Compensation

The Redwood City, CA base pay range for this role is $135,000 - $203,000. New hires are typically hired into the lower portion of the range, enabling employee growth in the range over time. Actual placement in range is based on job-related skills and experience, as evaluated throughout the interview process. Pay ranges outside Redwood City are adjusted based on cost of labor in each respective geographical market.
