The Opportunity

Our team is seeking for a Director, Facilities and Workplace. On this role, you will be responsible for crafting an excellent workplace experience from end to end for CZI’s employees and guests. You will own and lead all aspects of day-to-day operations, programs, and on-site events, building operations, maintenance and real estate initiatives.

CZI is a quickly growing company, which means you will also be responsible for scaling this team’s capabilities, setting strategic priorities, crafting and tracking performance metrics, and building (and re-building) processes and policies. The ideal candidate is an excellent manager, operationally driven and cares deeply about the in-person culture and experience.

You will

  • Direct planning and oversees implementation of Real Estate, Workplace, and Facilities systems, assigned real estate portfolios and CZI sites, including transportation, parking and other regular and special operations of CZI facilities, real estate acquisition and lease administration
  • Guide managers in development of strategies for large Real Estate, Workplace, and Facilities projects; ensures project plans reflect CZI's focus on service and support a caring, responsive and collaborative culture; guides others in adjusting strategies in changing environment(s)
  • Ensure Real Estate, Workplace, and Facilities projects are developed on time and within budget while meeting strategic and operational goals
  • Ensure professional development of managers and staff, helping them translate greater CZI strategies into project strategies and tactics
  • Contribute to mid- to long-term strategic and operational planning for Real Estate, Workplace, and Facilities teams
  • Develop practices, systems and infrastructure that improve operations of teams directed; develops Real Estate, Workplace, and Facilities processes that are thoughtful, well-designed, clearly articulated, documented and understood by applicable CZI partners; implements and approves policies in some areas
  • Develop and manages budgets, schedules, performance standards and resource requirements
  • Identify trends in escalated issues and recurring problems and develops improved cross-functional processes to resolve those problems, increase employee satisfaction and improve guest experience
  • Interact with peers in management to interpret information and improve cross-functional processes and programs and advocate for resources; serves as a trusted point of contact on Real Estate, Workplace, and Facilities-related tools and best practices
  • Influence strategic decisions of program, initiative, product or operation directed; influences organizational decisions beyond immediate area of accountability
  • Collaborates cross-functionally to improve cross-functional Real Estate, Workplace, and Facilities processes and projects
  • Build and enhances relationships with third party agencies (e.g., professional service providers, skilled and unskilled labor contractors, suppliers, vendors); may participate in contract negotiations; participates in real estate negotiations when applicable
  • Lead, hire, coach, inspire and build a multi-level team, (manager of managers)
  • Comprehensive understanding of facilities management, equipment maintenance, organizational change, telecommunications services, mailroom operations, transportation, parking and other work environment services
  •  

You have

  • 15+ years of experience working in Facilities/Workplace experience, including with at least 7+ years experience managing managers
  • Experience developing processes that scale with an org as it grows, and the lessons which come from that
  • Proven ability to build a highly aligned and productive team and working environment, across both distributed and ad hoc teams, with fluid and/or diverse goals
  • Excellent communication skills: Ability to translate complex topics and decisions for a variety of audiences
  • Strong executive presence, combined with exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills; you have the ability to build positive relationships easily and with authenticity with people and partners with varied backgrounds and perspectives
  • Proven experience developing our cross-functional and strategic vendor relationships
  • Excellent project management capabilities, you are able to lead multiple, sophisticated workstreams and prioritize scalable processes and systems, ranging from space planning to ticketing
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to handle change, navigate ambiguity and drive efficiencies in order to achieve the objectives of the facilities team
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving experience to help prioritize short and long term organizational needs, you are metrics driven
