Country Director, Türkiye

Change.org is searching for a Türkiye Direktörü to support millions of people taking action on the issues they care about. 

Change.org Türkiye was founded in 2012 and is a Social Benefit Company owned by a Charitable Foundation. Through Change.org Türkiye people start online signature campaigns (petitions) on issues important to them and society. As a social enterprise, we provide and develop campaign tools, and advise on communication and strategy for our petition starters so that they can advance societal movements for change.

Change.org, founded in 2009 is the largest tech platform focused on civic action in the world, with over 500 million users, 50 million monthly users, 50,000 campaigns launched on the site every month, and hundreds of millions of signatures per year.

Our plan is to further deepen and scale social movements on our platform on all issues. We are looking for a Country Director to ensure the continued growth and success of Change.org Türkiye. 

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Regional Director, the Country Director will lead all operations in Türkiye, will work remotely and manage an online team of 7 people distributed in Istanbul, Ankara, Edremit, and Antalya.

A Country Director is responsible for the overall strategic direction, impact, and financial sustainability of the country,  and will have the following overall responsibilities: 

Leadership 

  • Develop a vision and strategy for the country in collaboration with the Regional Director on how we can best support users on our platform to drive growth, impact and sustainability and foster a culture of learning, collaboration and innovation in the country team;
  • Participate in regional and global strategy development. Work collaboratively with other leaders around the world to ‘think big’ about the opportunities we have to increase our impact, address the obstacles we face, and foster a culture defined by Change.org values; 
  • Foster collaboration with other country teams to share learnings on impact, fundraising, brand, and other joint programs. 

Brand Development and Management

  • Grow and protect the Change.org brand as the world’s leading open hub for civic organizing in the country;
  • Be the public face in the country, sought after as a speaker and inspiring leader;
  • Develop and maintain networks at senior levels across civil society, business, media, and government, to help grow influence for change.org users. 

Revenue Management

  • Ensure the design and delivery of ambitious and rigorous revenue generation and sustainability strategies that guarantee the healthy financial sustainability of Change.org Türkiye and beyond.

Team Management

  • Manage the country team, recruit and retain great talent, support staff to succeed, including setting ambitious goals with teams, supporting them to execute plans, and ensuring team health and professional development;
  • Foster the Change.org culture and working principles;
  • Ensure training, problem-solving, effective communication, and sharing, learning, and innovation in the country.

Key Qualifications and Requirements

  • You have experience managing teams. You are passionate about achieving team success; can inspire and motivate the team. You can recruit, coach, and mentor a diverse team and guide next-level leaders. You have an aptitude for managing skip levels (e.g., a manager of managers) and have demonstrated success in developing internal talent;
  • You have strong experience driving sustainable operations. You are adept at drafting and managing budgets; 
  • You have demonstrated success with developing, communicating, and implementing a clearly defined vision. You have experience adapting to complex and changing situations;
  • You are impact-oriented. You have experience at a mission-driven organisation or an impact-focused company. Importantly, you have demonstrated passion for breaking new ground in citizen-led social change by connecting campaigns to culture.
  • You have a breadth & depth of knowledge. You have tactical expertise and the ability to be hands-on and dive in. You have substantial knowledge and a deep interest in the Turkish media and political landscape.
  • You are an excellent spokesperson with a strong personal profile. You can inspire others to want to follow or be involved with their projects.
