CEO’s DEI Community in Action!

Affinity Groups at CEO

Affinity groups at CEO are voluntary, employee-led groups made up of individuals who join together based on common interests, backgrounds or demographic factors such as gender, race or ethnicity.

  • Justice-Involved Voices
  • FEMME (Female Employees Meeting Monthly for Enrichment)
  • LGBTQ+
  • UNFAIR (Uniting Neighbors for an Inclusive Reality)
  • Women of Color
  • Divergent Abilities
  • Immigrant-Focused Group

Employees are encouraged to propose a new affinity group if you don't see an active or inactive group that fits your interest(s), background(s), or experience(s)!

Peer Support Groups

In this series of virtual conversations facilitated by volunteers across CEO, we invite all staff to chat, connect, and build relationships with their peers.

DEI Steering Committee

The DEI Steering Committee is a group of volunteer employees across CEO engaged in supporting and leading efforts to drive organizational-wide change in the area of DEI and, as a result, in the overall employee experience at CEO. Members are encouraged to develop subcommittees and projects related to DEI in their regional office or organization-wide throughout the country!

Talking about Racial Justice and Equity

In a series of virtual conversations facilitated by volunteers across CEO, we dive into healing, processing, and discussing how we as individuals can drive action to impact change inside and outside the organization as we strive for racial justice and equity.

About the Hiring Process

If you're selected for an interview, you'll be contacted by a recruiter or hiring manager who will outline the next steps in the process. If you have been selected to advance through the hiring process, typically you will have a phone interview with the recruiter for the vacancy and a second interview with the hiring manager. The process can also involve performance activities and panel interviews for us to get to know you better and for you to get to know us!

Please note that due to the volume of resumes received, we are unable to contact each applicant regarding the status of each position or reply to candidates' inquiries via phone or email.

  • Resume Review: Your candidate materials are carefully reviewed and considered to evaluate your fit for the open position.

  • Phone Screen: The first stage of the process is being invited for a 30 minute conversation with a member of our hiring team. This is the initial call for our staff to get to know you and get a better sense of whether the position you’ve applied to is the right fit.

  • Performance Task: We will invite candidates to complete a performance task that aligns closely with the skills we expect them to use in the role. This is a great opportunity for you to show us what you know and also to get an early preview of the type of work you’ll be doing in the role.

  • Round 1 Interview: This conversation is where you’ll have a more in-depth conversation with the hiring manager and spend some time understanding and evaluating your technical skills, learning more about the hiring manager management and work style.

  • Panel Interview: This is your opportunity to interact and interview with a slate of internal stakeholders that you’ll work closely with in the role that you’ve applied. You may complete some scenarios, teach the group something or answer some questions about your past experience and your interest in the position.

I enjoy working at CEO because I really love being part of this fresh start in people's lives and love helping them realize their own potential!

— Bailey Richardson, Intake Specialist/Training Navigator

I work at CEO to help give a second chance to those who need it and deserve it. While not all mistakes are created equal, that doesn’t mean people should be forever condemned by those mistakes regardless.

— Michael Medina, BAM

I am an AmeriCorps VISTA doing a year of service with CEO as a Program Development Associate. I work to develop programs and resources that build the capacity of the CEO San Jose office. I chose this job because I believe that while we work towards large structural change, it is important to support the agency and growth of individuals.
