The Team:

The Celonis Legal team is an energetic and proactive group of experts in their field, focused on identifying, avoiding, mitigating and solving challenges within the Celonis business. We sit at the heart of the Celonis organization and are proud to be seen as valued business partners across all aspects of the business. Reporting into the Chief Legal Officer, we have Commercial, Ecosystem, Corporate, Employment Law and Ethics & Compliance practices, supported by our Legal Operations team. 

The Role

We are hiring an Corporate Counsel, Employment Law/Investigations Attorney to support our growing organization with approximately 3000 employees spread out in over 15 countries.  Our biggest offices are in the United States, Germany and Spain. The attorney we hire will work in the Global Employment Law, Privacy, Ethics and Compliance team and be responsible for conducting investigations into the company's Code of Conduct and policies and expected behaviors on a global basis. Celonis currently operates in 17 countries (in Europe, North America and Asia). The attorney will also support the Employment Law team, assisting with work such as litigation, learning about laws and requirements in specific countries, reviewing or drafting policies, harmonizing employment contracts, keeping abreast of new legal developments and working on compliance related projects with the People & Culture team. The attorney will need to be comfortable working in an extremely fast-paced, results-oriented company that embraces change.

The work you'll do:

  • Conduct investigations: Conduct prompt, thorough and fair investigations at all levels of the organization on a wide range of issues, with a focus on employment law matters. This will include investigations in Europe, North America and Asia
  • Develop investigation processes and coach others: Regularly improve investigation processes and materials, and train and coach others
  • Recommend and implement operational actions: Recommend and help implement operational actions as a result of investigation findings
  • Projects: Work on proactive projects such as create/revise policies, agreements, and presentations
  • Legal research and legislative developments. Conduct legal research and keep abreast of new developments in employment law
  • Consulting: Provide EMEA-related employment law advice in the context of business needs
  • Litigation: Assist senior employment lawyers with administrative claims and litigation

The qualifications you need:

  • Law degree in any European jurisdiction with a preference for Spain, Germany or the UK.
  • Minimum 4 years' post degree employment law experience investigating employment-related matters, including conducting interviews and preparing written reports for stakeholders in English
  • Minimum 2 years’ In-house legal experience, ideally within the software/technology industry 
  • Fluent in English (speaking, listening and written business communication as English is the primary language at Celonis); fluency in Spanish or German is also preferred
  • Experience conducting investigations across multiple countries in Europe, ideally including Germany and Spain  
  • Located in Spain, Germany or England
  • Ability to travel as required; occasionally at short notice.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Legal experience (law degree) in international labor law
  • Licensed to practice law in Spain or Germany.
  • Experience dealing with multi-country issues.
  • Project management experience 
  • Formal training and/or certification in investigations
  • Fluency in more than two languages
  • Experience in the technology industry 
  • Experience in a high-growth company or other fast-paced environment
