About Celestial AI

As the industry strives to meet the demands of the AI workloads, bottlenecks in data transfers between processors and memory have hindered progress. The Photonic Fabric based Memory Fabric provides an optically scalable solution to the ‘Memory Wall’ problem, enabling tens of Terabytes of memory capacity at full HBM bandwidths with low tens of nanoseconds of latency and extremely low power. The Photonic Fabric based Compute Fabric enables Terabyte class bandwidth between compute nodes at low latency and power. Photonic Fabric delivers a transformative leap in AI system performance, ten years more advanced than existing technologies.

Description

In this role you will assist in developing Celestial AI’s core photonic technology. You will contribute towards (i) generating invaluable experimental data for Celestial AI sub-systems and (ii) design new or optimize existing photonic components for Celestial AI’s photonic component library. The role involves both experimental work (test and characterization of Celestial AI’s optical components) and design/simulation work to improve/expand the company’s photonic component library.

Job duties and Responsibilities

  • Design, layout and test Silicon Photonic devices and subsystems
  • Contribute to development of die-level and board-level photonics/opto-electronic test platforms
  • Work in conjunction with broader analog, digital and packaging teams to optimize components and subsystems in accordance with product requirements
  • Identify gaps and come up with longer term improvements to enhance Celestial’s photonics platform, including design and characterization

Qualifications / Skills

  • Experience with design of passive and active silicon photonics components and with the use of photonic/opto-electronic device simulation tools (Lumerical, Photon Design, RSoft, VPI or similar)
  • Experience with physical design/layout tools (Cadence, Mentor or similar)
  • Experience with Photonics test platforms and related software and hardware development
  • Ability to collect and analyze large datasets (i.e. experience with JMP, DataConductor or similar data analysis tools)

Requirements :

  • Requires either a Master’s degree in photonics and work experience (> 5 years) in a relevant company or a PhD on relevant photonic technologies (Silicon Photonics, active and/or passive optical components, high-speed optical links)
  • Right to work in Greece (EU citizenship or existing visa/work permit in Greece)
