Research fintech markets. Map shifting industry landscapes. Create amazing content.

This is an opportunity to join a team that is producing the industry’s smartest, most digestible and most actionable insight into the technologies, business models, competitors and market trends of tomorrow.

The role you'll play:

You will be given the opportunity to produce digestible and actionable insights and track and monitor technology markets as well as the industry competitors of tomorrow. In this role you will help identify which emerging tech markets will flourish and which will fade, by using data and not your gut.

About the Intelligence Unit:

Working on the Intelligence Unit is like having a front row seat to the future. There is no team quite like ours anywhere, inside or outside of tech. It's a unique opportunity to spend your day analyzing the technology markets, business models, and companies of tomorrow in emerging tech. To do so, you will have full access to the CB Insights software platform and its billions of data points, which you will be immersed in every day.

You will be surrounded by some of the most curious and driven people you will ever meet and held up to the highest standards every day. Our analysts and editors come from backgrounds as diverse as investment banking, VC, consulting, equity research, journalism, and market research.

Your main tasks:

  • Publish digestible, differentiated, and incisive research on our client-only platform.
  • Analyze the momentum of fintech startups, markets, and competitive dynamics.
  • Understand and develop prescriptive insights for decision makers and executives across banking, payments, wealth tech, among other areas.
  • Track tech markets and companies and develop an impactful research agenda.
  • Develop and give client and prospect presentations to discuss tech markets and companies in fintech.
  • Support PR requests and CB Insights events with data and category knowledge.
  • Must be passionate and knowledgeable about fintech and related disciplines such as venture capital and M&A.

What you bring to the table:

  • Writing experience is a must – can be within the fields of tech or market research, journalism, equity research, investment banking, or consulting in technology, or related areas.
  • 8+ years of professional experience in technology research in the fintech space or a related position (can be while working in any of the fields cited below), preferably in banking, payments, lending, or wealth tech. Having an understanding of enabling technologies such as AI, cloud, and blockchain is also beneficial.
  • Show a contagious passion for the material: Must be a startup/tech geek passionate about all things fintech.
  • Ability to synthesize data and develop meaningful viewpoints and prescriptive insights.
  • Strong communication/presentation skills and leadership abilities. You should feel comfortable speaking to Fortune 500 clients/prospects as an authority on the business and the category.
  • Some startup experience is ideal, a thick skin and high tolerance for change required.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage the details while keeping an eye on the big picture.
  • BA/BS required; relevant graduate degrees a plus.

Race & Ethnicity Definitions

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

A "recently separated veteran" means any veteran during the three-year period beginning on the date of such veteran's discharge or release from active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval, or air service.

An "active duty wartime or campaign badge veteran" means a veteran who served on active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service during a war, or in a campaign or expedition for which a campaign badge has been authorized under the laws administered by the Department of Defense.

An "Armed forces service medal veteran" means a veteran who, while serving on active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service, participated in a United States military operation for which an Armed Forces service medal was awarded pursuant to Executive Order 12985.

OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
