Job summary:

With Cazoo entering the European market, we are looking to extend and  improve upon the services we can provide across our mobile platform. We currently have two mobile applications which we are focused on maintaining whilst we plan for the future and the build of a brand new Cazoo mobile application. 

We are now looking to scale our Mobile team and hire a Senior Android Engineer to have significant influence over the decisions we will take over the coming months around tooling, architecture, and processes.

What you’ll be doing

  • App development: As a member of our agile development team, you will play an active role in the refinement of our App development process, from concept phase to finished product

  • User experience: In close coordination with your Product and UX colleagues, you will ensure our App users always enjoy a first-class user experience

  • Feature development: Programming innovative features and responsive UIs

  • Code reviews: Assuring adherence to our clean code principles through code reviews

  • A/B tests: Implementing A/B tests with the goal of optimizing our App

  • Quality assurance: Implementing Unit- and UI-tests to assure the correct behavior of our App

  • Trends & developments: Keeping up to date with the latest technologies and trends and evaluating their relevance for the further development of our App

Key skills and experience required:

We are primarily looking for software engineers to join our teams who are humble, enthusiastic and innovative who are keen to work effectively with others as part of a team.

  • Minimum 3 years relevant work experience as an Android Developer

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Android SDK, Kotlin and/or Java, Android Studio and/or a comparable IDE, Unit- and UI-tests

  • Profound knowledge integrating and working with third party libraries and build automation with Gradle

  • Experience working with REST and/or GraphQL APIs in a cloud-based serverless environment

  • Good Unix and Git skills

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Android-specific UI design principles, patterns and best practices

  • Extensive experience working in agile software development environments (Scrum/Kanban)

  • Marked commitment to quality and self-responsibility

  • Enthusiasm for customer-oriented product development

  • Fluent in written and spoken English, German desirable

We understand that your time is in demand and as such keep our interview process as quick and painless as possible, outlining all timeframes in advance for you to plan around. At present, the interview process will comprise of three remote video calls:

  •                     Meet and Greet (30 minutes)
  •                     Take home coding exercise (90 minutes)
  •                     Deep Dive Interview  (60 minutes) 
  •                     Culture and Values interview (30 minutes)
