As a Carvana Intern, you won’t be sent on coffee runs, but you will be expected to enjoy all the free cold brew coffee you can drink and participate in company-wide Pickleball tournaments. We’re looking for an energetic and enthusiastic individual to join our Predictive Modeling team as an analyst. As a member of the Predictive Modeling team you will evaluate the potential impact of projects that touch every aspect of Carvana’s operation. Your analysis and insights will inform all levels of the company and drive strategic decisions across many different functional groups. The Predictive Modeling team consists of top-caliber professionals who use a large array of data to apply cutting edge methods in machine learning, experimental design, statistics, as well as simulation and optimization to drive top-line results. You will play a critical role in the preparation of data, triage of opportunities, and analysis of results from our best-in-class Data Science team.
You will work with experienced Predictive Modeling experts to:
Analyze complex data to draw nuanced insights
Create engaging visualizations which explain complex data simply
Estimate the potential impact of Data Science products or initiatives
Assist in impact measurement by building high quality dashboards to monitor Data Science experiments
Aggregate data from a variety of datasets, automate data collection and processing
Communicate analytical findings to product development and operations teams
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
The qualifying candidate must be goal-oriented, enthusiastic, energetic, organized, and self-motivated, with the ability to interact and communicate with all levels of the organization.
Currently be a rising Junior or Senior pursuing a Bachelor’s degree at an accredited university.
Have a GPA that is proof of your solid work ethic (GPA of 3.5 or above required).
Have a team player mentality. We want someone who understands team dynamic and values teamwork.
Exposure working in SQL Server (T-SQL) or similar databases
An understanding of and interest in data science and predictive modeling
Knowledge of statistics and regression analysis preferred
Exposure to at least one statistical programming language Python, R, SAS, etc. preferred
Demonstrated intellectual curiosity and interest in solving problems, particularly using data to help answer somewhat nebulous questions (e.g., how consumers make purchasing decisions)
Curiosity to continue learning new analytical methods and tools
Strong communication skills
Be a high energy, forward thinking self-starter.
Demonstrate excellent interpersonal communication skills.
Have a sense of humor. Kinda serious about this one.
Have a high sense of urgency, attention to detail and strong communication skills.
