The Company You’ll Join
At Carta we create owners and make private markets liquid.
We live in a world where some people live on the equity stack and enjoy exponential wealth growth and preferential tax treatment; others live on the debt stack and may work their entire lives for a company and retire only with the cash they’ve managed to save from their paychecks. Our contribution to solving the wealth inequality problem is moving people from the debt stack (payroll) to the equity stack. By making it as easy to issue equity to employees as it is to put them on payroll, we can create more owners.
At Carta, we are helpful, transparent, fair, and kind. We are relentless executors, unconventional thinkers, and masters of our craft.

The Team You’ll Work With
Our Core Infrastructure group has several teams working to supercharge Carta developers by providing the building blocks for innovation. We’re looking for Engineering Managers to lead a few teams solving some of the most critical challenges Carta engineers face when it comes to getting products to market faster, and achieving more robust technical outcomes. We are the levers of productivity of all engineers building a platform that manages upwards of 1 trillion dollars of equity.
This is a collaborative and passionate group of professionals that includes technical product managers, program managers, and engineers united by the mission of reducing toil and creating leverage for all engineers across the company. We place a high premium on experimentation and validated learning and we focus on being value and mission-driven.
The Problems You’ll Solve
You’ll be leading one of three teams, solving a variety of complex engineering challenges. From how we manage identity and access management (IAM), building our first public API platform, and making the development experience amazing for our engineers.
The Impact You’ll Have
This group will create leverage for all platform and product teams at Carta as well as driving convergence and adoption of technologies. It is a highly collaborative role where you'll need to partner with leaders in several different areas. As an engineering leader, you will also help the organization on technical strategy and building alignment on objectives as well as growing your team.
You are a leader with significant background in architecting and designing systems, tools, and frameworks used by other engineers and proven ability to lead high-performing technical teams. You care about people's growth and development, giving them challenges aligned to their aspirations. You have a strong technical background and ability to communicate complex technical, logical, or process issues in a timely, concise, and objective manner. You possess superb interpersonal skills, with a track record of being able to influence multi-functional teams and leaders, and develop and maintain relationships across and between organizations. You also have a demonstrated ability to make considered recommendations for trade-offs in a rapidly changing environment. You actively contribute to the larger organization’s culture and processes, working with your peers to create an innovative and supportive environment.
The Interview Process
Our team believes that interviews are a two-way process and we strive to make them enjoyable without any “gotchas.” The interview process starts with a call with a member of our warm, amazing recruiting team who will tell you more about the job and the company. Then, you’ll meet one of the leaders in the Platform organization who will walk you through the specifics of the position, the team structure, what we’re looking for, and of course, answer any questions you will have. This interview will last 45 minutes. Then, there’s a technical screen where you’ll be handed a technical exercise that is expected to be completed in a reasonable time but not take more than two hours. Finally, we will schedule you for another four to five meetings with other team members to discuss everything from coding and systems design to Carta’s culture and cross-team collaboration as well as what you can expect, and what is expected from you.
We are an equal opportunity employer and are committed to providing a positive interview experience for every candidate. If accommodations due to a disability or medical condition are needed, connect with us via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
