The Company You’ll Join
At Carta we create owners and make private markets liquid.
We live in a world where some people live on the equity stack and enjoy exponential wealth growth and preferential tax treatment; others live on the debt stack and may work their entire lives for a company and retire only with the cash they’ve managed to save from their paychecks. Our contribution to solving the wealth inequality problem is moving people from the debt stack (payroll) to the equity stack. By making it as easy to issue equity to employees as it is to put them on payroll, we can create more owners.
At Carta, we are helpful, transparent, fair, and kind. We are relentless executors, unconventional thinkers, and masters of our craft.

The Team You’ll Work With
The CartaX team is creating more owners by removing restrictions on when and how employees exercise equity. Our team is building a greenfield marketplace that will allow the trading of shares in return for liquidity for employees of pre-IPO companies. CartaX will be the world’s first vertically integrated financial marketplace for private securities.
This role involves a broad range of functions including systems/business analysis, software development, and quality assurance services for Carta's newest team. The focus of the role will be the backend trading components of CartaX, while also having management responsibilities over the Liquidity QA team and thus ultimate responsibility for QA over all frontend and backend components.
The Problems You’ll Solve
You’ll be working for a regulated entity alongside legal and compliance teams in addition to the product and engineering teams to ensure that the systems built aren't just performant and functionally correct, but that they are also compliant with federal rules and regulations.
Some of the problems you’ll help us solve are:
- Own all of the testing pipeline - UI, functional, integration, regression, performance, white/black box, you name it.
- Work closely with internal product and compliance teams to create a fully automated test and quality assurance program for client services, order execution, and post-trade systems.
- Helps to define white box test case test steps as well as complementary black box test cases for corresponding stories.
- Sets the standard and mentors all engineers on best practices around testing.
You have senior level experience in QA execution and planning. You have extensive practical experience automating the testing of all aspects of a system from front end UI driving to backend services. Senior level testing experience within complex trading systems. Experience all facets of trading systems which may include matching engine, ATS, post-trade and execution services.
Most importantly you're excited to work on a product that will fundamentally change the way private companies view liquidity, going public and how employees exercise their options.
