The Company You’ll Join
At Carta we create owners and make private markets liquid.
We live in a world where some people live on the equity stack and enjoy exponential wealth growth and preferential tax treatment; others live on the debt stack and may work their entire lives for a company and retire only with the cash they’ve managed to save from their paychecks. Our contribution to solving the wealth inequality problem is moving people from the debt stack (payroll) to the equity stack. By making it as easy to issue equity to employees as it is to put them on payroll, we can create more owners.
At Carta, we are helpful, transparent, fair, and kind. We are relentless executors, unconventional thinkers, and masters of our craft.

The Team You’ll Work With
Joining as one of the founding members of our new Developer Ecosystem team, you will partner heavily with other teams in our Platform group (SRE, Infrastructure, IAM, R&D Strategy) to plan, design, and launch this transformational product area. You will partner with product and engineering teams across the organization to bring their internal APIs to Carta’s public platform and work with business teams to cultivate our ecosystem, monetization, go-to-market, and support strategies.
The Problems You’ll Solve
- Build and operate infrastructure to securely and reliably offer public API products
- Influence new designs, architecture, best practices, and standards to support and improve API products
- Build out a developer console, tutorials, analytics, and guides to deliver a world-class developer experience
- Partner with product teams to redesign/refactor existing internal APIs
- Secure buy-in from executive and leadership teams to align the developer ecosystem with Carta's high-level vision
- Research and achieve alignment on the most impactful developer ecosystem configuration for Carta
- Collaborate with Compliance, Legal, and InfoSec teams on data sharing policies and controls
You have 5+ years of backend experience working as an individual contributor. You are familiar with Python (or willing to learn it) but you might have another language in your toolbelt as well. Our stack today includes AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, Helm, CircleCI, Jenkins, Datadog and gRPC but we value experience with similar technologies. You have consumed many different APIs and your experience has helped you develop an opinion on what makes for a great one. Maybe you've even taken it one step further and brought a new public API to life yourself. You have experience solving platform problems and have a passion for building great products used by other developers. You're excited about the opportunity to build a new product from scratch and have the breadth (architecture to infrastructure to application development) and depth of skills to actually make it happen. You understand that technology is only a piece of the puzzle so you enjoy collaborating with others to solve problems together.
