The Product Marketing Manager will be accountable for marketing and implementing advertising solutions that enable Cars.com to differentiate itself and stand above the competition. This role requires close coordination with the sales, product, research and analytics teams to extract core trends useful to market positioning and will report directly to the Sr. Manager, National Product Marketing.   

In this role, you will be the expert on digital advertising trends in the marketplace. You will work with a sales team who serves OEM clients and be the internal subject matter expert and advocate on clients’ advertising needs and goals to design and build innovative marketing programs that drive demand in the marketplace.

  • Assess gaps and put processes and/or operational corrections into action quickly
  • Work closely, collaborate and establish partnerships with stakeholders within product and sales
 Required Skills:
  • Advocate client needs within Cars.com, particularly in reference to the Product team
  • Articulate product value propositions clearly, including metrics that demonstrate clients’ desired business outcomes
  • Work with the research team to develop insights that support product value and uniqueness in the market
  • Develop value talk tracks and collateral, crafting the message and positioning for the products
  • Facilitate sales-related communications and effective distribution of sales tools
  • Lead Go-to-Market planning and new product launches
  • Subject matter expert over respective advertising product suite
  • Guide development of case studies, objection handling and testimonials
  • Identify client/prospect marketing opportunities and coordinate cross-functionally
  • Measure success through client retention and utilization
  • Collaborate with Operation and Support Teams to ensure a consistent, scalable delivery experience for our advertising products
  • Agile with the ability to execute on short turnaround times, and remain adaptable to rapid changes in the online advertising business environment
  • Structured approach to problem solving, with the ability to project confidence and challenge norms in a positive way to cultivate broadened thinking
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to prepare and deliver impactful presentations to support business arguments and plans
  • Positive collaborative spirit and team player mentality necessary to navigate across a variety of departments and levels, both within the Cars.com organization and our key clients’ organizations
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Self-driven to expand knowledge set and pursue consistent skill improvement in a constantly evolving industry
Required Experience:
  • BA/BS, preferably in Marketing
  • 5+ years of professional experience in marketing and/or advertising
  • Digital Marketing experience
  • Product Marketing experience 
  • B2B experience 
  • Agency experience highly desired, preferably within Ad Tech
