Cars.com is seeking a Manager of Performance Reporting & Analysis for project finance work and performance reporting at Cars.com.  Typical work that this manager would lead include: product and customer profitability; financial modeling for new products and business opportunities, cost-benefit analysis, defining, measuring and tracking financial and non-financial performance factors to influence decision-making.  The Manager and his/her team will work collaboratively across the organization to gather the information needed and disseminate it.  The audience for most deliverables will be Director-level to C-suite executives. This position will report to the Director of Management Reporting & Performance Analysis.

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing a clear, sustainable and scalable framework to measure marginal and fully-allocated profitability by customer and product and other segments as relevant
  • Turning performance analysis into business intelligence to inform senior management and improve modeling and forecasting accuracy
  • Measuring and analyzing internal return on investment of business operations including but not limited to Marketing and Product development
  • Partnering with Site Analytics to analyze how business decisions, macro-economic factors, and competition impact on-site performance metrics
  • Collaborating with leaders across Product, Tech and Sales to analyze and prioritize product opportunities
  • Defining scope, timeline and deliverables for every project; alerting senior management of related or adjacent opportunities that may be out of scope, but could be relevant to recommendation or decision
  • Ensuring and enforcing the use of consistent standards across all deliverables for ease of use, transferability, and sustainability
  • Hiring and developing a high-performing, analytical team
  • Identifying and evaluating resources and tools to improve efficiency of data collection and accuracy

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Highly analytical and naturally curious
  • Proven track record of independently framing obscure and new concepts into a digestible analytical framework and then successful execution
  • Excellent communicator who can understand complex questions but confidently explain them in a clear and compelling way to different audiences (C-suite to entry-level employees)
  • Ability to scope resourcing and skill sets needed for a given project, then lead through clear direction and influence of cross-functional resources
  • Planful and well-organized; ability to establish reasonable timelines, manage and pace team to meet deadlines
  • Manage and balance multiple and competing priorities with the ability to quickly adapt to changing business needs
  • Passionate, energetic, approachable with a positive, low-ego, can-do demeanor
  • Highly advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail
  • Desire to continuously improve yourself and your team’s performance – efficiencies, deliverables, processes, standards, predictive and other key metrics

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Analytics, Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Engineering or related field
  • MBA and/or CPA preferred
  • 5-7 years of experience preferably in Management Consulting, FP&A and/or Analytics
  • Experience in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment
