About the Role:
Brand Director, Cars.com
The Director of Brand is responsible for strengthening and sustaining awareness and consideration for Cars.com, as well as acquisition of car shoppers across the United States to our industry-leading website and content. Reporting to the Vice President of Brand and Content, the Brand Director will manage Brand positioning and creative/ad development, as well as drive brand growth and acquisition through brand media and strategic sponsorships, affiliations, and partnerships. This role works closely with x-functional teams, from product, UX and Performance Media to Communications, Sales and Content, to bring to life our “Matchical” brand and value proposition in compelling ways.
The position is responsible for the direct management of a Brand Manager, Brand Media Manager and supporting agencies.
The Brand Director is a passionate brand steward who will lead the development of both creative and media strategies that grow the Cars.com audience and drive awareness, favorability and loyalty among consumers and customers. They’ll evangelize and shepherd our “Matchical” brand internally and externally and organize broad marketing and communications support for Brand moments and tentpoles throughout the year.
He/she will be a creative and strategic thinker who identifies growth opportunities and brand strategies to seize them. They’ll manage the planning, executing and testing of claims, value propositions and creative messages, and integrate the learnings into a strategic brand marketing roadmap and media plans. They will manage a team and agencies in the development and distribution of brand ads, owning mass media channels such as TV and radio plus social media and digital video. They will manage a media budget and, in collaboration with analytics and finance, ensure clear goals and ROI on media investments are established and met. The director is expected to collaborate across marketing practices to develop effective media mix that drives business growth. He/she will help guide the measurement framework for brand campaigns and media and lead the brand team in developing actionable insights and plans informed by brand health metrics, competitive analysis and media performance.

Strong leadership abilities are required, as is brand marketing communication expertise at both a strategic and executional level.
Skills/Knowledge this role requires:
- Proven experience in scoping, budgeting and planning a holistic brand roadmap from messaging to media.
- Inspirational leadership of a brand, marketing or communications team
- Ability to assess and measure success of creative and messaging as well as media performance
- Experience with Adobe and/or Google Analytics, as well as Brand Health tracking analysis
- Strong collaboration skills
- Highly skilled presenter
- Knowledge of G-Suite and Microsoft Office
