Executive Producer/Creative Director

The Executive Producer/Creative Director role provides inspirational leadership and guidance on current and cutting-edge production techniques and trends in multiple mediums, from online video and illustrations to website design and photography, for renowned website Cars.com, its social media properties and other owned channels. The EP/CD will lead the execution and implementation of various broadcast, film/video, illustration and motion graphics, and photographic content, produced for various departments across the CARS company, including the Editorial, Brand, B2B, Communications and Marketing Teams, and others as needed. This role works closely with various internal marketing and sales teams to achieve best-in-class consumer and customer-facing film/video, photography, website/digital design, sponsored content and features, and other audio and visual communication. 

Responsibilities

The position is responsible for overseeing an interdisciplinary team of designers, videographers, editors and producers who develop visual materials from inception to completion, such as short- and long-form video (live action, animated and explainer videos), original photography and illustrations, webpage design, brand iconography, internal corporate event production assets, podcasts, daily image creation/search for the editorial department, and more.

Requires a strong ability to facilitate the development of assets that support and convey  marketing messages and stories, and ensure the brand is appropriately reflected within all visual communications. The position works cross-functionally with Editorial and Marketing groups to execute solid communications and creative development plans and ensure creative objectives are well defined and appropriately executed to achieve desired results. The position oversees project/roadmap planning, projects and project managers, to ensure they are produced on strategy, on time and within budget. Day to day responsibilities include managing creative development and the production team, maintaining all work flow, approval processes, schedules and budget management as well as KPIs to measure the impact of the work. Works closely with creative and brand/b2b/editorial teams in identifying and selecting vendors and bidding jobs. The position works closely with other teams within the Editorial and Marketing groups to produce all deliverables while establishing strong relationships with outside vendors and sales reps to understand all potential partners. 

Qualifications

The ideal candidate must have excellent production and communication skills, demonstrated project and budget management skills as well as a solid understanding of the creative development process. They must understand how to communicate a creative vision clearly and the goals and/or value to chosen techniques and mediums. Strong leadership abilities are required, as this position informally leads multi-disciplinary teams and requires marketing communication expertise at both a strategic and executional level. The ideal candidate will have the humility and collaborative spirit to service and support teams, such as our editorial team, while also possessing the courage and dynamism to lead and inspire across teams and bring clear, new production ideas and skills and challenge the status quo modes of operation.

Working knowledge of the video pre- and post-production process is necessary. Multimedia, interactive kiosk/disc, or web project experience a definite plus, including relationships with and knowledge of vendors and freelance talent that allow work to be produced effectively and efficiently. Studio management is a plus.

  • Experience with content & video serving/publishing platforms such as BrightCove, Wordpress, YouTube, as well as Digital Asset Management systems such as Cloudinary, AEM or Widen
